Four Tips to Enhance the Hospitality Aspect of Your Hotel

by Kristen White Blogger
The hotel industry consists of a wide network of employees and departments working in a high-pressure and quick-paced environment to ensure everything runs efficiently. Hotel hospitality staff serves and strives to provide a memorable and highly satisfying experience. Here are four tips to consider for managing your hotel well and avoid being a dark spot in your customer’s trip.

Constant Learning and Development - Have Weekly Staff Meetings

Your staff must have the desire to quickly learn and improve in serving customers on a daily basis. Focus on the areas of improvement and train your staff on a weekly basis through innovative hotel management presentations. Let your staff take time to self-evaluate on their strengths and areas they can excel. Ensure they get proper support and mentorship at every level. Ensure you value your employees and express it. Also, take time to have weekly meetings to share new ideas as a group and see what you can implement. You can also stay abreast of the latest industry news and online blogs to educate and enrich your staff.

Own the Best Quality Supplies and Equipment

A crucial aspect to run your hotel smoothly is to have in place the right equipment and supplies to take care of your customers. Right from daily comforts like bed sheets, towels, toiletries, to the management software and commute system, you need to ensure everything is in place. Have your staff create daily reports on any shortages and keep an up to date inventory of every item and equipment required to take care of your daily hotel activities.

Be Proactive to Fix Customer Complaints

The cliche, ‘customer is always right’ applies to the hotel industry more than anything else. Be proactive and carefully pay attention to the complaints your hotel guests make. Above all, don’t just the fix issue but delve right into the root of it and solve it to enhance the way your hotel serves. Try everything you can to transform your customer’s issue into a memorable story they will look forward to sharing with everyone of how you served beyond the call of duty to make sure their trip is great

After listening to your customer’s issue, first, apologize and come up with an immediate solution to resolve it. Don’t just listen to how they say it, but what they say and respond to your guest in a soft and calm manner. Learn to read the body language of your guest and ensure they are having a great time at the hotel.

Enjoy Your Work and Have Fun

As a hotel manager, you and your staff might be having an endless list of things to take care of. However, learn to enjoy the work you do and wear a good attitude as it is infectious to the staff working along with you. You can have fun while being diligent at hotel hospitality and influence those around you. Greet your guests with a smile and good eye contact and always find out how you can help them.
