Four Fencing Terms You Should Be Familiar With

by Kevin Smith Author

There are millions of properties across the country with fencing of some sort or another. Fences are great because they establish boundaries, draw perimeters and protect people, property and possessions. Plus, fences with aluminium gates in Orlando, FL, are especially reliable, made to last for years to come. Whether you already have fencing on your property and you're in need of repairs or replacement, or you're looking to install a fence for the first time, it's a good idea to be familiar with industry vocabulary. After all, the fencing contractors you hire will be highly experienced, and they may throw around some words you don't know. If you keep these four commonly-used terms from the fencing industry in mind, you will know what the experts are talking about and what's happening with your fence.

Aluminized

This adjective is an attractive one to hear in the world of chain link fencing. Aluminized refers to fabric coated with aluminum before weaving from steel wire. This makes for a very strong and durable fence that will withstand the elements and provide proper protection far into the future. This is a smart investment for any property owner who wants a fantastic fencing solution.

Brace Band

If you hear your fencing contractor say brace band, they are talking about a metal strip shaped to fit around a fence post. Brace bands provide support and attach the rail end and the post with a carriage bolt and nut. Plus, brace bands may be used for attaching tension or barbed wire to end posts, so these are an important component of any fencing job.

Corner Post

This fencing term is much like it says, a post that sits in the corner where two fencing lines meet. Corner posts are typically situated at 90-degree angles. These posts present an opportunity to add a decorative post or show off your contemporary style. By choosing the right style fencing, you can boost the value of your property rather than detract from it.

 Double Swing Gate

Last but certainly not least, another commonly used term in the fencing industry is double swing gate. It's a possibility that you may need this fencing feature for your home, especially if you have a large driveway or access point that requires a wide gate. Double swing gates are hinged with two leaves for easy coming and going. Aluminum gates in Orlando, FL, may be set up in the form of double swing, depending on your fence design.
