Five tips for companies creating promotional photo calendars

by Vivek Singh online shopping
Calendars are one of the oldest items that have long served our business places. Whether it’s a small company or a corporate enterprise, every office uses wall or table calendar on a daily basis. It’s a useful item that helps organize and plan our day to day activities. From receptions to cabins to cubicles, calendars are used at every office place where an employee sits.

A few decades ago, calendars used to come in very few sizes and designs. Most companies used to have one large calendar for an entire room where large rows of employees were seated. Even the farthest seated member was able to view it. Such calendars followed a specific design pattern that only informed the viewer about the month, year, day and date.

But today in a modern workplace where every employee has his own desk or cubicle, one giant calendar has been replaced with multiple table calendars for every desk. Thanks to digital printing, modern calendars come in a wide variety of designs, patterns and colours that businesses can opt for, instead of the generic design.

Not only do they convey the date and month, but also display the various products and services that the business offers. Such promotional calendars are not only for the employees but also presented to clients and customers, as gifts. Just today I received a photo calendar 2018 from an old business colleague.

Some businesses even order customized calendars that highlight the dates for their major company events. Such calendars are distributed at the start of every year; the purpose being to make the user aware of and prepare for the important days in advance.

If you’re one such company looking to order your customized photo calendar 2018, here are a few tips to guide you through the customization process.

1) It’s never too late
There is a certain apprehension or awkwardness in ordering customized calendars after February. Ask any manufacturer and he will tell you that businesses all over the world gift calendars even till April. I personally believe that unless it’s July, you can go ahead with gifting calendars.

2) Options, options, options
Every first timer gets confused with the wide variety of designs that manufacturers offer. There are calendars that display only a particular day, a full month or even an entire year on a single page. You can choose to either remove or fold the entire page. There are wall calendars and table calendars. Choose carefully and go for the one which seems the most convenient.

3) Avoid similar patterns
Try to add variety to your design. A calendar with the same pattern repeated every month tends to become boring. On the other hand, a different font, size and colour for each month will help in capturing the user’s attention.

4) Avoid the cliché
Calendars all over the world are filled with common, outdated designs that fail to have any effect on the viewer. Instead, try to add something unique or perceptive that instantly captures the observer’s attention. A witty one-liner or pun or a funny joke is better accepted by people than a motivational line or quote that asks you to work harder.

5) Separate mention of important dates
Always see that Sundays, holidays, cultural celebrations like Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day etc. and various important dates for the company are printed in separate colour. If possible also mention the name. This is a great gesture that many people, especially the ones who are forgetful or busy will appreciate.
