Five brand promotion tips that work for trade show displays

by Dan Warner Full time blogger

The goal of brand promotion at trade fairs is to increase leads, visitors, and brand recognition. Each time a visitor enters your trade show display, you increase your chances of getting a new customer. For any exhibitor, finding the right way to promote their brand is crucial. Your trade show display ideas need to distinguish yourself from your competition. Just following trends does not help, just having ideas are going to guarantee your brand promotion success.  You need a big-picture plan that takes your trade show display ideas and merges them in a way that fits your brand. So to help you with that here are five tips to help that will improve your presentation.

1) Plan multiple activities

At any trade show,  activities drive engagement. Without any interesting demonstrations, you can’t expect a large volume of footfall at your trade show display.  Try to schedule several activities throughout the day to keep up the novelty, and make visitors keep coming back. For every 120 minutes launch a new activity, product demonstration, contest at your trade show display. Alternating between different engagement ideas will expose your brand promotion to different target groups. So, develop multiple activities to connect with different visitors.

2) Promote your activity itinerary

Don’t forget to promote your activities on social media and at the trade show. If your visitors are not aware, then they will likely miss it. Show organizers do allow self-promotion in their marketing campaigns, but if that’s not an option, you can display a timetable at your booth. This lets visitors know in advance, letting them manage their time.

3) Have a happy hour!

Happy hours mean discount time. So visitors are going to be primed to show up at your appointed time. Good discounts will draw visitors and turn them into customers.  Happy hour discounts are especially useful to generate footfall during the time of the day when visitor traffic is weak. You can even categorize different time slots for your happy hours. For example, families can be 2 PM to 4 PM, business professionals can be 11 AM to 1 PM, and you can have closing time discounts from 5 PM to 6 PM.

4) Invite industry reporters

If you’ve been to comic con or Gamescom you will see several booth owners being interviewed by the press. Media representation offers new opportunities to get your brand out there. Interviews, press coverage, product spotlights provide a new platform for your business to reach out to your target group. Getting coverage from industry reporters will get you in the minds of target groups, who are not at the trade fair. So, have a press kit ready for reporters and invite them to check out your booth and business.

5) Distribute Giveaways

Giveaways such as gift vouchers, coupons, and product samples are never going to go out of style. Simply because they tap into the human desire to get something for free.  It doesn’t even have to be completely free, you can tie it up with a contest, a survey, or provide shopping points which they can redeem at a later date. Giveaways are a timeless brand promotion activity since you can tap into dozens of ideas, on how to do them.  They also make your brand remain memorable after the show. One advice in this regard is to provide two giveaways since people like to share free stuff, if they have two then they are more likely to give it away to their friends.

So there you have it, our top five tips to improve your augment your trade show display ideas and take your trade show appearance to the next level.
