The various challenges which test the brothers’ character are played out mainly through the eyes of Officer Rick Riley, a 36-year old decorated Philadelphia cop who inevitably has to put his badge to the test and his honor at stake, when he is obliged to save the life of a stabbing victim. As it turns out, the stabbing victim is in fact his nephew, a seventeen-year-old athlete and the only suspect is Rick’s own older brother Steve Riley. While the suspense thriller will definitely take readers on an emotionally-testing journey filled with the most unexpected, unpredictable twists and turns, although fictitious, the storyline probably exists in the extreme bracket of some of life’s uttermost challenges which can actually be related to by many people. Part of the story’s inspiration for the setting came via the author’s interactions with the local police in her place of upbringing, Port Richmond, Philadelphia, which she describes as having a “small town feel.” “Everyone looked out for each other and the neighborhood was tight,” said author Teresa Marie Warwick, who is a married mother to a teenage daughter. “The police department especially the 24th police district were always engaging with the youth in the community,” she concludes.
