Financial Advisor Near Me

Whether someone is using financial consultant, wealth management, financial adviser, financial planner, financial advice, retirement advice, independent financial advice etc it often ends with 'near me'. 

And this really bother me. Your future financial advice relationship isn't the same as a petrol station or corner store. Your criteria for selecting a financial advisor should not be whether they are down the street from you. So please, stop searching for 'financial consultant near me' and start searching for 'best financial planning review'

Reviews and testimonials are a much more logical thing to base who to use as a trusted financial advisor. Many people also search only for 'independent' financial advice. Independent is a protected term under the Corporations Act so has significant meaning. Basically independent means they work only for the client and have no split loyalties; they are not paid by anyone else and are not under undue pressure to "sell" particular things. 
I would say that most people only see their financial advisor once or twice a year; most times correspondence is conducted by phone or email. So it is not much of an inconvenience to drive a bit further to meet with a trusted financial advisor rather than whomever happens to be down the street.

I even have clients who I have never met in person; we just communicate over zoom. So you can be in different cities and separated by hundreds of kilometers. I'd urge you not to select an adviser by location, but instead to find someone you trust, someone with experience, appropriate qualifications, no adverse record on the financial adviser register, and preferably an independent financial advisor.
