Facebook Geared Up To Compete With Periscope

Facebook to ompete with Periscope via Live videos
.

Do not be worried if your favorite artist went Live and you missed it. Facebook Inc. is well aware of the fact that the individuals watch the live streams at least three times loger than the videos which are saved. The company has finally decided to tweak the News Fee so that it can capitalize on the ongoing broadcasts.

Periscope which was launched by Twitter In. gave the company a significant advantage since they were both platform that operate in real time. Periscope is responsible to come up with notification for all the followers out their. These eventually surface instantly in real time on the twitter timeline.

The News Feed of the renowned social media platform was not designed in a manner to handle content in real time. It is actually designed to surface what’s best irrespective of the time. It will surface a few hours old content if its popular thus it is not time centric. However, this is not the case with Live video. The platform allows you to save your steams and can be shown at any time unlike Periscope which deletes them after 24 hours.

The thing which makes Live videos extremely fun to watch is its unpredictability, urgency, raw and interaction.

So now the social media giant has finally made a sane decision to modify the algorithm of its News Feed where videos will surface on the basis of the rankings. Those videos which are being streamed currently are Live higher on the New Feed in contrast to old items which are saved.

Back in August, Facebook came up with Live for celebrities. Then gradually they decided to surface it to all those who have authentic profiles and Pages. Finally, in January it surfaced to all iOS users. Last week, Android uses wee also given the option to broadcast. Instead of notifying all your friends and loved ones regarding your broadcast, the tech giant minimized the spam by offering a push if the stream was generated by a loved one, a subscribe page to the Live video or a page you recently interacted with.

The change might just increase the chances of you watching a live stream while it is still operational. This ill enable the broadcaster to go through the comments in real time.

So it is now quite obvious that there is a difference between Periscope and Facebook Live. The similarity lies in the fact that the viewing a steaming experience is identical. Twitter is relying on the notifications you get with a tweet or a retweet through Periscope.

The company will now make use of Likes and reactions to judge which content is popular amongst users. As per the knowledge, the company will then design its strategy to ensure that the broadcast surfaces to as many people as possible. Periscope might just have to deal with immense competition now.
