Experiential Learning Activities: Corporate Learning Institute

by Macy Busson E - Business

Experiential learning or as is more commonly known action learning is a process in by which individuals learn by doing. Experiential learning is commonly known as a process in by which an individual learns a process or idea by experiencing it.

The Corporate Learning Institute focuses efforts in this kind of learning. We seek to promote learning by action learning. We believe that experiential learning is a precise approach to take to teach and have individuals internalize a process. Many of the work we do focuses experiential learning, such is the case of our ropes courses.

As mentioned above one of the mostly used and known experiential learning activities at CLI is our ropes course. In our ropes course individuals have the chance to have a fun fill day while learning by experience. On our ropes course we seek to promote team building, trust, facilitation skills and other processes that may not be apparent but are always at work. In short individuals are learning by experiencing teamwork in action.

CLI also focuses on other experiential activities that are well known to have a positive aspect in learning. Such activities include the corporate challenge cup, hitting the numbers; build a cabana, and many others.  All of these activities promote experiential learning by putting activities forth for clients in which they have to experience a specific action that will help them learn the concept that is being used.

It is often said that the key to experiential learning key lies in the facilitator and how he or she facilitates the learning process. It is common knowledge that when participating in experiential learning activities the facilitator is the most important aspect of the learning process. Here at CLI we understand that facilitation is a key component of the success of the learning process and therefore embrace the idea.  CLI staff understands that even though it is the client’s experience that is the most important to the learning process, the facilitator is the guiding force and therefore dictates the learning with their experience.
