Establish a Business in Canada through the Manitoba Immigration Entrepreneur Pathway
by Visa Consultant Immigration ExpertBusiness immigration is a popular gateway to permanent
residence in Canada. Aspirants who have the required experience and resources
can pursue Manitoba
immigration through the Entrepreneur pathway under the Business Investor
stream of the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). This pathway selects
and nominates eligible entrepreneurs seeking to establish a new business in
Manitoba, or purchase or partner with an existing business in the province –
within 24 months of arriving in Canada on a temporary work permit.
Securing a nomination also adds 600 additional points to the
Comprehensive Ranking System score, thus significantly enhancing the
eligibility for permanent residence. In order to qualify for the Entrepreneur
sub-category, an applicant must:
- · Have completed secondary (high school) education.
- · Have actively owned one-third or more share of a successful business or worked full-time in the senior management of such business – for at least three years within the preceding five years.
- · Showcase language proficiency in English or French by scoring CLB/NCLC 5 or higher in an approved language examination.
- · Invest at least $250,000 in an eligible business located within the Manitoba Capital Region or at least $150,000 in an eligible business located outside this region. The business must create at least one job for a citizen or permanent resident Canada residing in Manitoba, not including the business owner or a close relative.
- · Submit a Business Plan and conduct an exploratory business research visit within one year preceding the submission of the Expression of Interest, to examine the potential for business investment or proposal.
- · Have a minimum net worth of $500,000, verified by a third-party supplier approved by the MPNP.
- · Meet the eligibility requirements of the MPNP.
Points are allocated under each eligibility factor. Additional
points can be gained by fulfilling certain adaptability factors.
Highest-scoring applicants are more likely to be nominated. Until the MPNP
online application system begins functioning, applications for the Entrepreneur
pathway of this Canada PNP
program will be processed through an interim process:
Step 1: Expression of
Interest
Those who can satisfy the afore-mentioned eligibility
criteria must complete a self-assessment form, research the proposed business
and explore Manitoba – preferably by visiting the province and attending
business seminars. A Business Concept Form must be completed, sharing details
of the proposed business. Relevant forms should be submitted via email. The
MPNP will issue Letters of Advice to Apply (LAA) to the MPNP via email to those
who can meet the minimum criteria of this stream?
Step 2: Apply for
Nomination
Within 120 days of receiving the LAA, a candidate is
required to submit a full application to the MPNP. The application package
includes all documents mentioned in the document checklist, a net worth
verification report, and application fees. The MPNP conducts a thorough
assessment.
Step 3: Operate the
Business in Manitoba
If approved, the candidate must sign a Business Performance
Agreement (BPA) before receiving a letter of support for applying for a work
permit from the MPNP. After obtaining the work permit, the applicant can enter
Canada to implement the business.
Step 4: Apply for
Permanent Residence
The MPNP will only issue a certificate of nomination after
ensuring that the applicant has fulfilled the terms and conditions of the BPA. If
the nomination is issued, the nominee can submit a permanent residence application
and corresponding fees to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
The Entrepreneur pathway targets specific profiles to
generate employment in the province and contribute to the local economy. This
mutually beneficial Manitoba
immigration process is the key to a successful life as a business owner
in Canada.
