One of the most important steps to become a model is to learn how to pose. Learning how to pose correctly will give your personality an extra boost and help you gain acceptance from your peers. You need to be confident, but not overbearing and should have a sense of humor and a warm heart. Here are the essential steps to become a model.

THE FIRST STEP IS LEARNING TO DO HEADSHOTS.

The model’s head should be shown completely. One way to help achieve this is to hold a sheet of paper in front of the model and pose while looking directly into the paper. The model’s head will appear to be higher as the camera is lower so when the head is released the paper will still show the head in the same position.

THE SECOND STEP IS LEARNING HOW TO POSE CORRECTLY FOR PHOTOSHOOTS.

There are two schools of thought on how to pose for a model. Some models feel that it is more important to have the hands at the sides of the body than it is to have them hanging down, while other models think that leaning over hips to the shoulders and down the back of the neck is more important than lifting the arms.

In one class I had a girl who was posing like she was pregnant. Another girl in the class took the photo with the pregnancy pose and when the photographer saw the photograph the editor asked her to remove the baby bump. The girl was upset that the editor made such a request but the instructor said that it was important for the pose to look good.

THE THIRD STEP ON THE ESSENTIAL STEPS TO BECOME A MODEL IS TO KNOW WHAT YOU WANT THE SHOT TO BE LIKE.

For instance, if you want the camera to take a shot of you looking happy and relaxed you will need to pose that way. A model who wants the camera to show the scars from a recent tattoo will need to pose in a way that shows off the scar. You will probably also want the photo taken from an angle where the camera can reveal your new tattoo.

THE FOURTH AND FINAL STEP ON THE ESSENTIAL STEPS TO BECOME A MODEL IS TO ENJOY YOURSELF.

A model needs to look and act their best in order to succeed. Taking photos does not have to be an all-consuming task. Take the photos often when you can and look back on them later.

As mentioned before, the first two steps are extremely important. They are the foundation for anyone’s career as a model. If you want to be a top model, you need to keep at it and never stop trying. If you think that you are not cut out for modeling, you might consider taking classes or even getting an internship elsewhere. Being prepared now and having a plan in place,

will make it easier when you finally start looking to become a model.

There are many opportunities out there for people who would like to become a model. You could pursue an acting career, a photography career, or even go into teaching. If you follow the steps discussed above, you have a good chance of being successful. As you become better known, more casting calls will come your way and you will have the opportunity to work with some of the best in the business.
