About IIT JEE Exam

The Joint Entrance Examination or the IIT JEE is an entrance exam whose results determine whether an aspirant will get admission to an undergraduate engineering course at the premier institutes like the NITs, the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIITs) and centrally funded technical institutes.

As per the decision of The Central Board of Secondary Education in 2013, the JEE entrance test is split into two different parts – JEE Main and JEE Advanced. The first paper of JEE Main will be the B. E. or B. Tech. and will serve as the eligibility test for the next JEE Advanced exam. The JEE Main is a computer based test conducted through the Local Area Network to keep the examination uninterrupted and safe. A news report by Times of India revealed that in 2014 only the top qualifying 1.5 Lac candidates will be able to take the JEE Advanced exam.
