E – Aadhaar

Aadhaar is a 12 digit alphanumeric number provided by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI which functions under the planning commission of India) to the citizens of the country. And it is fast becoming Government’s base for public welfare and citizen services. Aadhaar helps to get a mobile connection, LPG connection, opening a bank account easy. It also works as a proof of identity and proof of address all over the country.

As the country is moving towards digitization, introduction of E – Aadhaar is one step forward to ensure this. As e – Aadhaar is an electronic version of Aadhaar card which one can get it by downloading it online. And most importantly it is as valid as the original card. It is legally validated as an identity proof under the Aadhaar card.

E – Aadhaar contains various details such as biometric (finger prints, iris scan), demographic information of a person. It also contains Aadhaar number, photograph of the card holder, name, and date of birth and address of the card holder.

How to download E – Aadhaar card?

In order to download Aadhaar card online, keep your acknowledgement slip handy which you must have received at the time of applying for Aadhaar card, as you will need enrollment number, time and date provided in that acknowledgement slip.

Now, to start the procedure you will have to visit the official UIDAI website https://uidai.gov.in/ and enter all the required details and click on the option to get one time password (OTP).

Once you receive the One Time Password (OTP), enter it into the given field. And enter your PIN code number which works as a password in order to open the E – Aadhaar pdf file.

What are the Benefits of E – Aadhaar card?

There are multiple benefits of E – Aadhaar card as it is a push towards a digital India.

It is a paperless card which means it is an electronic card and is available online, hence can be accessed anytime anywhere. And there is no chance of misplacing it as it is a virtual card.

This card is enough to avail many Government benefits and act as a proof of identity and proof of address, unlike most other documents.

It also helps availing many other documents such as Passport, opening a new bank account by using Aadhaar card.

However, recently Government have mandated Aadhaar card to keep many other official documents operational.

The main Reason of this mandation to improve the quality of Aadhaar Card and to connect the various Official documents present in India.
