DUI (Driving Under Influence): Offense Similar To OWI

by Demi F. Wedding Planner

All over the globe, several accidents happen every minute. You do not how many accidents occur on the road while you were asleep, having breakfast/lunch/dinner, watching a movie or at a get together with your friends. Among all the road accidents which happen daily, one of the accident which is widely and extensively heard, and happen is, driving under influence. Returning late night from the party in highly drunken state calls for this kind of mishap.

Post drinking heavily, you lose control over your vehicle of which end result is, a crash with another person, another vehicle.  Even if you are walking safely on the road, driving by following all the traffic rules, then also it is not sure that you won’t get hit by any vehicle. And most of the chance it would be that the person who is heavily drunk will hit the other vehicle or other person. Driving under influence is based upon this case only where the person who is driving the vehicle, is driving under the influence of the alcohol.

Driving even in full conscious may lead to mishap, however, if you are driving under any influence and that too under the influence of an alcohol, could make you get a crash and bump into a vehicle or other person who is completely innocent. A person who might come out of his home to buy some stuff for his kid, could come out for buying medicine or be it any reason. Reasons could be many of a person to come out of his home, but, for him to get hit by the vehicle is just one, that is, the other person has been heavily drunk. If we look at this term from the court point of view, then it could be stated that DUI, also known as Driving Under The Influence is an offense which is known to be the most harsh and stern crime which could lead you to several years of imprisonment.

OWI (operating while intoxicated) is similar to DUI; charges, punishment are almost the same as it is for driving under influence. You need to have self control while drinking. While drinking, you must make sure that your drinking must not harm the other person. Your drinking should be limited to yourself only; harm/use may only affect you, not to anyone else. So, be aware of what amount of alcohol are you consuming and if the amount has been exceeded beyond a limit, then ask your friend to drive who has not consumed much.
