Detach all the Peripherals

Keep the Mac shut down at least for 48 hours

  1. Shut down your Mac quickly after the spill.
  2. Leave the system for 48 hours in the switch-off mode.
  3. Make sure you have crossed the required time. Switch on your Mac after the recommended time.
  4. If your MacBook is not retorting, press and hold the power button for a few seconds until it shuts down again.
  5. What if it is not shutting down?
  6. The keyboard has got damaged.
  7. Activate the deep sleep mode by closing the notebook lid. In deep sleep mode, the memory chips are de-plugged. It protects the SSD drives, CPU, and RAMs.

Reposition your MacBook

  1. Shut down your MacBook and put it in a tent position.
  2. Your systems with non-retina displays, like MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, will benefit from flipping them into a tent position.
  3. For models with retina displays, please keep them in a 90-degree position along a wall.
  4. Prevent it from falling.
  5. Keep a dry towel under the system so that it soaks any dripping water from the screen or elsewhere.

Don't:-

Don't use a hairdryer

  1. Using a hairdryer on your wet MacBook will demerit its system.
  2. Hairdryers help the liquid seep into the circuits.
  3. Avoid doing this.

Quivering the MacBook is not a good idea

  1. Do not shake the MacBook when wet. It helps the water to reach those parts where it cannot go usually.
  2. Getting into delicate components can damage the BGA balls, CPU, and backlight film of the screen.

Never turn on the wet MacBook

  1. Turning on your MacBook when wet is a big NO.
  2. This activity will not take much time to damage the circuit board and battery.
