Do you have to winterize a boat?

by Jason Watts Content Writer

Yes, you must winterize your boats and yachts if your region freezes during the time. Failing to winterize can cost you money, time with unavoidable repairs and make you miss the start of the boating season. Winter boat storages offered by marinas near you are great options. You can either choose a wet slip or a dry slip, according to the atmosphere there. Even if you are storing the vessel somewhere dry, the engine can get affected majorly. Fuels break down or grow dirty when you don’t use the vessel for a long period of time or even a couple of months. Mold and mildew take root and damage it.

If you are living in Annapolis or around, Chesapeake Harbour Marina, Nabbs Creek Marina & Yacht Yards are great places to store your boat in winter as these rarely witness snowfalls. Also, being estuaries, the salt contains in the water prevents it from freezing in general. Store your yacht with the Trident Marine Group. They provide amazing boat services and you can even enjoy the other amenities they have during winters, like restaurants and bars, wifi premises, etc.
