Different Types of Vacuums Available

by Laurel Cullinan Vacuum Cleaner

Did you know there is more than one type of vacuum? When you think about vacuums, you probably have an image of your head of one that is designed to clean your carpet. While this is what many of them do, there are tons of options available for homeowners. Vacuums come in a variety of price points. Take a look at the options you could select from that make vacuum shopping more enjoyable.

Bagless Vacuums

One of the most purchased vacuums in the world, the bagless, is comfortable, lightweight, and affordable. Instead of using a bag to collect dirt, everything picked up falls into a receptacle. You will still need to empty the tank frequently but won’t have to go through the hassle and expense of the bagged units. Bagless vacuums are found almost everywhere and from a variety of manufacturers, including Hoover, Bissell, Dyson, and many more. While there are a variety of price points, most units are suitable for several years before needing repairs or replacements.

Bagged Vacuums

Bagged vacuums have seen a decline over the years due to the introduction of bagless. As bagless models get less expensive, many are ditching their bagged vacuums in favor. The biggest downside to this appliance is that you have to pay for bags periodical. Bagged vacuums also aren’t known for their outstanding filtration system, and tend to be messy when removing bags for replacement.

Stick Vacuum

A stick vacuum design has grown in popularity over the years. It is lighter weight, easier to handle, and the empty system is typically a breeze. What many love about the design can reach places they usually couldn’t with traditional vacuum-like chairs and ceilings. This type of vacuum is also impressive at cleaning stairs without the hassle of lugging a 20 lbs machine up and down. Take a look at some of the best stick vacuum cleaner options on the market.

Robot Vacuum

Last but certainly not least on the list are robot vacuums. These are still somewhat new on the market but are quickly growing in popularity. They made a huge splash a few years back with the introduction of the Roomba, and now many manufacturers have climbed on board with their versions. Most of these units are small and circular. They are able to pick up a fair amount before needing to be emptied, but somewhat lack the intuition we all had hoped for. The cost for robot vacuums is expected to decline as the technology becomes more readily available, but as of right now, it is still somewhat expensive to get the best unit on the market.
