Different Types of Screening Test and its Importance

When a doctor recommends a screening test near Milton Keynes to a patient, it does not mean that he or she has that disease. The purpose of prescribing the test is to ensure that the person is safe from a particular health problem. It also helps the doctor administer treatment if it turns out that the patient is suffering from a problem.

Cholesterol Screening Test

This test is recommended for people who have heart disease. The test can easily detect lipid disorders, coronary heart disease and other signs and risks of cardiovascular disease.

The amount of lipoproteins is divided into two types:

Diabetes Screening Test

A patient who is genetically predisposed to diabetes falls into the type 1 test, a patient who suffers from diabetes with age falls into the type 2 test, and a woman who is at risk for gestational diabetes falls into the type 3 test.

The type 1 test includes HLA (human leukocyte antigen) typing, the type 2 test includes the FPG (fasting plasma glucose) test, and the type 3 test includes the OGTT (oral glucose tolerance test).

Hypertension Screening Test

Patients with heart problems will feel shortness of breath should undergo hypertension screening. In this test, a fabric cuff is placed over the patient's upper arm, which is then inflated to inflate the cuff around the arm. After a few seconds, the air is released from the cuff and the doctor listens to the patient's pulses and assesses their blood pressure.
