Diet and Diabetes

by Bill Elsenrath New Orleans SEO Website Marketing
With diet and diabetes, you have to be so careful about the food that you eat. A lot of food contains more sugar than it did a few years ago. That's why it's very important to ensure with your diet that you make sure you check the labels. For example, you could have a yogurt that may be really high in sugar. But you may think that if you have a yogurt that sugar free that you're doing better, but sometimes the sugar alternative might boost your sugar level higher because your body thinks it's absorbing sugar.

Check Sugar Content Of Foods
Diet and diabetes is about balance. Be very careful with artificial sweeteners also. While it might be hard to want to season your food, you have to be careful that you're not adding sugar and more sugar when food already has enough sugar in it. With diabetics you also have to be careful that you don't ingest too much in terms of carbohydrates and sugar that can come from fresh fruits and vegetables especially fresh fruit. To make sure you watch your sugar, don't sit down and eat a whole cantaloupe, or a whole watermelon, or a ton of bananas and strawberries, because on the one side yes you want to have fresh fruit in your diet, but as a diabetic you have to be very careful about limiting the amount of raw sugar that comes into your body.

Small Balanced Meals
A good course of action for diabetics and dieting is to ensure that you have small well balanced meals. For example, for breakfast, you may want to have a yogurt that does not have sugar, & a few mixed berries. You don't need a sweetener with that. Maybe your juice is sugar free, and your coffee does not have sugar or you limit the amount of sugar that's in it. If you want egg whites for an egg omelet that's great! Try to incorporate a little protein like maybe some steamed or sautéed chicken or low fat jerky into your omelet to ensure that the meal is hearty enough so that your blood sugar does not drop. Diet and diabetes is about empowerment.

Eat Snacks To Help Balance Your Sugar Levels
healthy eatingBefore lunchtime, you want to ensure maybe you have a tiny snack, this could be a yogurt, string cheese, or it could be a few almonds to snack on so that your blood sugar doesn't go low. At lunch time have a nice healthy salad that has a meat in a protein such as a piece of chicken or fish on the side, and make sure that it's a good filling meal to carry you if you're at work for example, and you know that you won't have dinner until 7 or 8 p.m., and keep a little snack for later on in the day, maybe a few more almonds if you have them, or a bag of chips that might be low in fat. For dinner, always try to have a nice piece of meat like fish or chicken and a healthy salad and maybe a baked potato or if you have rice with that that's fine too, just try to make sure that your balance diet includes vegetables and a nice healthy protein. Diet and diabetes is about choices.
