Did you know? Women masturbate far less compared to men!
by Jayson Bernad Enthusiastic Blogger and WriterMasturbation is considered an enjoyable and healthy
experience by many. It is common knowledge that men who do not have women in
their life end up masturbating a lot. And there are stats in the public domain
that suggest so. Unfortunately, there is still a lot of taboo surrounding
masturbation when it comes to women.
Large gender gap
Research suggests women masturbate far lesser than men. As
per a study published by Huffpost, roughly 23.4 percent of men from the age group
25-29 prefer masturbating, while on the other hand, just 7.9 percent of women
from the same age group do so. But, when it comes to Eporner
achieved parity, it was the best thing that happened lately.
There are several reasons behind this gap. Besides
differences in masturbation frequencies, it is possible that some women do not
feel comfortable talking about their masturbation habits. They probably do not
wish to share such highly personal information even as a part of the
study.
Another significant aspect that deserves attention is the
number of tasks that women are responsible for handling daily. Married women
with kids do a lot more than men in their daily life. A study from the Panel A study of Income Dynamics released a few years back highlighted how men’s
behavior and habits result in an extra load of housework for wives.
Women spend their day handling parenting responsibilities,
housework, professional duties, as well as intimate relationships with their
husband or boyfriend. So, it’s not surprising that solo sex does not feature in
the list of priorities for most women. Perhaps, women do not have the time and
energy required for masturbation daily.
Whatever the reason may be, shame probably remains at the heart of it. The percentage of masturbation highlighted in various studies shows how society treats women as someone with lesser sexual needs than men.
The shaming begins at a very early age for women
Boys often always feel free to talk about their masturbation
habits and even joke about them. On the other hand, if girls talk about the
same, they are often ridiculed or shamed. Thus, girls in some societies are
made to believe that masturbation or debates about the same are shameful acts.
The pattern does not change even when boys and girls turn
adults. Men still discuss masturbation with ease, while women feel ashamed and
avoid the topic altogether.
Initiatives from sex educators like Betty Dodson, guides
like Jamye Waxman’s Getting Off, OMGYes, Sex for One as well as sex toys from
LELO does attract attention. However, women still hesitate to talk about the
issue publicly. Such silence does not benefit women; it is just like brushing
the debate under the carpet.
Why should men have all the fun?
A similar study published by cosmopolitan last year brought
some exciting insights under the spotlight.
Women who watch porn often end up watching something that
appears appealing on the porn site’s home page. They prefer using toys,
especially vibrators.
Women who participated and answered questions said they did
it daily during their teenage years. But, they reduced it to twice or thrice
daily as they grew older. Most of them said they masturbate if they feel bored,
stressed, or are unable to sleep.
Overall, all the participants said masturbation helps them
understand what pose, position, or action makes them feel comfortable during
sex. These experiences also help them in improving relationships with male and
female partners.
