Diabetic Issues from Adult Health Care Providers in New York City
by Steve Son Marketing RepresentativeType 1 and type 2 diabetes are diseases of the
endocrine system that can strike anyone regardless of age. Type 1 is more likely
to strike in childhood whereas type 2 often doesn’t show up until after age 40.
As per estimates, diabetes claims the life of one American every three minutes
and is also the number one cause of blindness, kidney failure, heart failure,
stroke, and amputations.
In diabetes, your blood glucose, or blood sugar, levels
are too high that comes from the foods that you eat. The hormone insulin helps
the glucose get into your cells to give them energy. Your body doesn’t make
insulin in type 1 diabetes. Type 2 is the most common type when body does not
make or use insulin well that causes the glucose to stay in the blood. You can
also be at the receiving end of prediabetes which means that your blood sugar
is higher than normal but not high enough to be called diabetes. With
prediabetes, you at a higher risk of getting type 2 diabetes.
Causes and Symptoms of Diabetes from adult health care New York City centres-
Cause:
We have already talked about the hormone insulin that
under normal circumstances is produced by our bodies to allow the sugars
(glucose) from the foods we eat to be absorbed by our cells in order to produce
the energy we need.
The pancreas doesn’t produce enough insulin for this
process to properly occur in individuals with diabetes. Apart from type 1 and
type 2 diabetes, there are actually other types of diabetes, as well, including
gestational diabetes, which occurs during pregnancy, and pre-diabetes, a
potentially reversible condition that can eventually lead to diabetes.
Cause of type 1 diabetes is still not known whereas in
type 2 diabetes and pre-diabetes the body’s cells
become resistant to the action of insulin, and the pancreas cannot create
enough insulin to compensate that leads to build up of sugars in the
bloodstream since the energy from the foods eaten can’t be absorbed by the
cells to be used for energy.
According to the American Diabetes Association,
individuals at risk for diabetes should have their blood glucose tested
regularly which includes anyone over 45 years of age, those considered to be
pre-diabetic, individuals with a body mass index (BMI) of 25 or higher and any
individual with type 1 or 2 diabetes.
Visit your local primary care for blood glucose and other tests.
Symptoms:
Symptoms vary depending on the amount of sugar present
in the blood. The symptoms are similar for both type 1 and type 2, the symptoms
tend to be more sudden and pronounced with type 1 diabetes though.
Increased thrust, fatigue, dry mouth, headaches,
extreme hunger, frequent urination, blurred vision, unexplained weight loss,
irritability, sores that are slow to heal and frequent infections including
gums, skin, and vaginal infections- these are some signs of diabetes.
Take a simple blood test to either confirm or rule out
the disease if you experience any signs of diabetes.
