Decoding 5 most common AC maintenance queries
by Amili R. SEOBuying an air conditioner of any kind is an
investment – not just of your money, but also your time. Therefore, it is only
natural to panic a little when your 2
ton split AC does something unusual or seems like it is not working the
way it normally should.
However, that does not necessarily mean
that there is something wrong with your AC. In fact, it is quite possible that
it’s completely normal for some of these “incidents” to occur. In the blog, we
look at 5 frequently faced queries of customers with the regular usage of their
ACs.
1.
The AC doesn’t start
working as soon as it’s switched on
Most times, this isn’t a problem. In
fact, it’s actually a good thing. To reduce excessive load during a restart,
your air conditioner does not start to operate for three minutes when the ON
switch is pressed again immediately after shutting down or when the operating
mode is changed using the remote. At other times, for the inverter and load to
stabilize, some ACs like a 1
Ton 5 Star Inverter AC will take a few
seconds to start.
2.
The AC is producing a
‘water-flowing’ sound
Here again, there’s no reason to panic!
This isn’t a sudden leakage of any kind. It’s merely the sound produced by the
refrigerant flowing into the air conditioner. This sound occurs mostly when the
defrost operation is activated in a heating operation. If you still feel that
the sound is louder than usual or see any leaks, contact the service-care team
and they will be at your service in just a short while.
3.
The amount of water drainage
is more than usual
If you’re feeling the amount of water drained
from your AC is more compared to what it was yesterday or the previous week, it
doesn’t necessarily mean there’s a malfunction. The amount of drained water
varies depending on the room temperature and humidity. The higher the
temperature and humidity, the more the consumption power and therefore the more
water drainage.
4.
The AC is producing an
‘air-releasing’ sound or a crackling sound
When it comes to sounds, go with the
assumption that some sounds are inevitable. This will reduce your worry when
there are any such noise-related occurrences. An ‘air-releasing’ sound occurs
when there’s a change in the direction of the flow of your refrigerant. This
sound occurs when the AC stops operating, or the defrosting operation is
activated in a heating operation.
On the other hand, the air conditioner
sometimes produces a crackling sound when the plastic parts like the front
panel expand or contract slightly due to a temperature change.
5.
The operation lamp is
blinking, and the AC has stopped working
Now, this is something that should not be
a common occurrence and should be addressed immediately to avoid any major
maintenance issues. However, again, the fix might be an easy one that you may
have missed. Check your air filters to see if they are clean. Not cleaning them
for a long time makes your operation lamp blink. Secondly, check if the air
inlets of your indoor and outdoor units are not blocked. Again, this can affect
cooling in the long-term and therefore the operational lamp is lit, and the AC
is not working.
