Overcoming them is what makes life meaningful”

Answer writing for UPSC Mains exam is an uphill battle, which actually should start from very beginning. But most of the IAS aspirants don’t start it on time thinking they will start it after completing the syllabus.

Actually, this is the biggest myth!!

The recipe of a good answer is very simple if you start it early and practice it judiciously on a daily basic (at least 1 question in beginning) suggested by UPSC Topper Srushti Jayant Deshmukh UPSC CSE 2018, AIR 5. But writing up to 4 questions daily can help you with time management along with content management.

Answer writing becomes tough, just because we ignore it. One most important fact about answer writing is - Nobody can start with a perfect answer, perfection comes with time and practice.

All what we need to start a good answer…...

  • A GOOD UNDERSTING OF QUESTION. (Comes from regular practice)
  • CONTENT. (Comes from regular revision.)
  • PRESENTATION. (Comes from good structure and a good flow of content.)
  • PRACTICE... PRACTICE…PRACTICE!!!

What we get gradually with time…

  • Understanding of defining and addressing the various parts of the question asked.
  • Ideas for managing the flow of the content to show interlinking between all paragraphs or dots.
  • Ideas to present your answer with flowcharts, pie charts, diagrams, headings, subheadings etc…
  • Using relevant facts and data.
  • And the most important… managing time to complete the paper.

Daily one answer can give a kick start to your answer writing.

Courses like STEPS- A Daily Mains answer writing initiative by EDEN IAS helps in maintain discipline with the help of quality questions and a punctual evaluation.

  • And the syllabus moves sub-topic wise, which helps in-depth coverage of every nook and corner of the syllabus.
  • Essay and Ethics are commonly known as the scoring subjects of IAS / UPSC Mains exam, so keeping this in mind every Thursday is reserved with questions and case studies from Ethics and Saturdays are dedicated to Essay writing.
  • Evaluated copies comes with a best copy and there is a very enriching provision for face to face interaction with the faculty.

There should be a gap of at least 7 days in reading and writing the current affairs so that it can be recalled properly, suggested by UPSC topper Suyash Chavan, UPSC CSE 2017, First attempt, AIR 56 (IFS).
  • An aspirant can get a great confidence if he or she can complete the syllabus, keeping this in mind the course covers the whole UPSC/ IAS syllabus through writing in 3 months moving sub topic wise.
