ALL THAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT CUET 2022


CUET 2022 is the Common Universities Entrance Test, conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA). It has been introduced by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. It has been developed in sync with the New Education Policy 2022. Now, CUET is the only means to get admission into the following 44 Central Universities of India :

CUET 2022: EXAM OVERVIEW 

The exam will be conducted in the first or second week of July 2022. The registrations are closed now as the last date to register was 6th May 2022. The exam will be held in 13 languages and across 547 cities in India and in 13 centres outside of India. The exam will be in the CBT mode and will include MCQ-type questions. Conduction of the exam will be done in 2 slots;  9:00 AM-3:00 PM & 12:15 PM- 6:45 PM. The Slot-1 exam duration will be 3 hours 15 minutes and in Slot-2, it will be 3 hours 45 minutes.


CUET ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA 

Eligibility criteria for CUET has been laid out by NTA. Basic eligibility for Undergraduate programme admission through CUET 2022 are:

  • For general category candidates, at least 50% at +2 level is required and for SC/ST candidates 45% is needed.

  • The aspirant must have opted for the subjects in his/her 12th grade according to the course he/she wishes to pursue.

For course specific eligibility, aspirants can check the official website of the university where one is willing to take admission.


CUET SYLLABUS 2022 

CUET syllabus for 2022 has been released by NTA. The exam will comprise of 3 main sections; Language Test, Domain Test & General Test.


Language test would comprise factual or narrative Reading comprehension passages. This section will also check the aspirants’ selected language knowledge. Two languages will be chosen by the aspirant; one from Section IA and other one from Section IB.

  • Languages under Section IA (13 in total)

English; Hindi; Telugu; Kannada; Malayalam; Tamil; Marathi; Urdu; Odiya; Assamese; Punjabi; Bengali; Gujarati.

  • Languages under Section IB (20 in total)

Konkani; Bodo; Dogri; French; Nepali; Persian; Italian; Arabic; Sindhi; Spanish; German; Russian; Japanese; Chinese; Tibetan; Kashmiri; Maithili; Manipuri; Santhali; Sanskrit.


Domain test will have subject specific questions. The subjects that must be considered for the domain test will be selected by the aspirants. The selection will be on the basis of the subject an individual has studied in 12th standard. There are 24 subjects included in the list for the aspirants to choose from; those are:


Accountancy/ Book-keeping; Biology/ Biological Studies/ Biotechnology/ Biochemistry; Business Studies; Chemistry; Computer Science/ Informatics Practices; Economics/ Business Economics; Engineering Graphics; Entrepreneurship; Geography/Geology; History; Home Science; Knowledge Tradition and Practices of India; Legal Studies; Environmental Science; Mathematics; Physical Education/ NCC /Yoga; Physics; Political Science; Psychology; Sociology; Teaching Aptitude; Agriculture; Mass Media/ Mass Communication; Anthropology; Fine Arts/Visual Arts (Sculpture/ Painting)/Commercial Arts; Performing Arts – (i) Dance (Kathak/ Bharatnatyam/Odissi/Kathakali/Kuchipudi/ Manipuri (ii) Drama- Theatre (iii) Music General (Hindustani/ Carnatic/ RabindraSangeet/ Percussion/ Non-Percussion); Sanskrit

An aspirant can choose utmost 6 domain subjects.

General test is intended to assess general awareness and aptitude of the aspirants. The questions in this section will be from the following areas: General Knowledge; Current affairs; General Mental Ability; Numerical Abilities; Quantitative reasoning (Simple application of basic mathematical concepts arithmetic/algebra/geometry/mensuration/ statistics taught till 8th Grade); Logical and Analytical Reasoning.
