Create a fun space for your kids

by Shruti Sharma Content Curator

As a parent, it is important that you’re creating a space for your child which allows them to get inspired, learn, laugh and grow. Give your child both freedom and privacy, colours that make them happy and the tools and toys that allow them to explore. Keep the décor simple but engaging, and make sure that the room is age-sensitive. The theme of the room, the furniture that makes up the interiors of the room, and the overall look should be in sync with your child’s age and sensibilities. Remember that this space, is going to be instrumental in forming their memories and associations with home, family, fun and play

Decorating your kids’ room sure sounds fun but it isn’t easy. The internet is flooded with décor ideas. But no need to get overwhelmed, we’ve sorted the most stylish, practical, and coziest of suggestions, just for you. Read on to find out:

For a Nursery

When you are decorating a nursery for your newborn it’s beneficial to have a subtle theme in mind in order to set a soothing ambiance.

• The base of your kids’ room should consist of shades of either yellow or white. Walls and furniture painted in these colours will make the interiors look soothing.

• Additionally, pastel hues including baby blue, mint green, pale pink or warm tones such as mustard or brown can lend the room a calm demeanor. Don’t forget to add in throws, blankets, rugs, and cushions to complete the look of the room.

• If your child is older than a year, then it’s likely that his or her toys are lying around everywhere. To avoid a messy kid’s room, install open storage shelves of their height. This will help with not only cleaning up the mess, but also train your kids to stay organized from a young age.

For a Kids’ Room

The room of a child (5+) is entirely different. Kids during this stage are highly energetic and their room’s ambiance should keep up with that enthusiasm. It’s the time when you can go all out and try new things. Experimentation is key to decorating a room complementing the personality of your kid. And by all means, involve them in the process!

• Setting the theme of the room based on the interests of your child should be the objective. For example, if your child is fond of reading or is a sci-fi fan then a great idea would be decorating the entire room with his/her favourite fantasy elements. Imagine recreating a Harry Potter world in your kids’ room.  Walls embellished with decal inspired by the wizarding world, blanket in Gryffindor knitted colours, DIY-ed Nimbus 2000, the cupboard painted with the Marauders’ Map, and such inventive ideas will turn living in that room into a magical experience.

• If you have 2 kids then having a bunk bed is the most practical idea and kids love it! They’re compact and don’t clutter the room, giving kids extra space to play especially in apartments in Mumbai.

Even if you want to resale flats in Mumbai, you should always redesign and decorate your kids’ rooms. This will give your house greater appeal and make childbearing families even more interested in buying them.
