The Hira-To is a flat hone with a single head and a patented fixture and arm arrangement. It sharpens both right and left hand shears and lets you precisely adjust any angle between 25° and 65°. The Hira-To Sharpening Machine includes a variable speed range of 0-2500 rpm, forward and reverse controls, and an electronic shaft break. Pressure sensitive sticky abrasive discs are used in the rapid change head. The Hira-To Sharpening Machine comes with a full training DVD and a Shapton® 6000 grit GlassStone for working the ride line.

The Hira-To® fixture is ergonomically curved to fit the natural curvature of the sharpener's hand, allowing sharpeners of all skill levels to replicate Japanese bladesmiths' free-hand approach. Right and left hand shears can be sharpened at any angle between 25° and 65°.
