Cocktail Night Etiquette

by Kosher River Cruise Kosher Tour Operator
True to its luxury roots, Kosher River Cruises has at least one cocktail night on board. It's also another way of saying fancy dinner and drinks at night. It's mostly an adult party, but kids are welcome to come. You'll catch them walking away with shrimp cocktails to hang out on deck with their newfound friends.

Like any cocktail party, our Kosher Cruise cocktail night comes with etiquette people are expected to follow. Here are a few tips to help you behave like the perfect belle of the ball:

  1. Arrive in style

Dress for the occasion; cocktail parties vary from casual to formal. Don't show up to a formal cocktail party wearing sweats or a casual cocktail party wearing a gown or suit and tie. Wear appropriate clothes for the night's theme. You'll be informed what the theme of the night will be so you'll be able to pre-select what you're flaunting during the event.

  2. Mix and Mingle With Fellow Passengers

A cocktail party is a social event, so don't just sit in the corner. It's considered rude during a cocktail party not to socialize with the people around you. If you're shy, don't worry. Other people are probably feeling the same way. Starting one conversation is good enough, but you know what they say, the more, the merrier.

  3. Thank the Host

In this case, the host of the party will be your captain. So greet him when you enter the cocktail event and thank him for the good time before you leave. It's standard operating procedure during all parties anyway.

  4. Drinking

Know how to handle your alcohol, although cocktail night will be overflowing with drinks galore, don't let it get to your head. There's a respectable amount of buzz that you can reach, just don't go as far as getting blackout drunk.

Also, crunching ice is a big no-no. When you're drinking something like a whiskey, for example, don't eat the ice after downing your drink. Just leave it in your glass. One last thing, hold your beverage with your left hand, so your right is free for handshakes and greetings.

  5. Taking hors d'oeuvre

It's impolite to take more than one hors d'oeuvre from the tray the waiter is serving. It shows a lack of tact and manners. Only take one at a time and don't "reserve" for a friend. It's a dead giveaway that you're a cocktail party first-timer.

  6. Follow our tips and you'll be ready for your upcoming Kosher Cruise cocktail night. See you there!
