Clarified butter vs butter: A common fix for food enthusiasts

by Mitun Mukherjee Milkio food product

Clarified butter and butter look quite similar, and are sold next to each other in grocery stores. But what are the facts about clarified butter vs butter? Clarified butter is also popular as ghee, but they have a little difference. Clarified butter has been identified as a healthy alternative to butter. Making ghee from butter is an easy and straightforward process.

Clarified butter or ghee both are prepared from unsalted dairy butter. Ghee is a more flavorful version of simplified butter due to its nutty, caramel essence. Ghee takes a few more times to get prepared as compared to clarified butter. Now coming to the clarified butter vs butter facts -

  1. The unsalted dairy butter is boiled for a long time so that the milk solids are removed. Ghee or clarified butter is free from milk solids but butter has enough amounts of lactose and casein.

  2. The next difference is, ghee has a slightly higher concentration of fat than butter. One tablespoon of ghee has 120 calories but the same amount of butter offers 102 calories.

  3. Ghee is associated with gut cleansing, immune-boosting, internal healing, weight loss, and much more. Butter is not as healthy as ghee.

  4. Melted ghee, when drizzled over hot dishes, can enhance the flavor of the dish. It comes with a high burning point which is safe for all types of high-heat cooking purposes.
