Chrome Tab Groups: New Feature Releases & How to Use it

Tab Groups is the newest feature on the Google Chrome web browser, and now it is available to be used on the official Chrome version. Previously, this exciting feature was available on Chrome beta and developer versions for testing purposes, but now you can use it. How to Use Google Chrome’s New Feature: Tab Groups

According to Google, “they have launched the feature for everyone now, and many users are using it. However, some users may not see this feature directly on their browsers. If you are using Chrome and not seeing the newly added feature, then, first of all, make sure you are using the latest version. Then look for the changes and if you still can’t see a new feature, then type in “chrome://flags/#tab-groups” into the URL bar on the top and then press Enter. From there, you can easily enable the feature by pressing the Default button and then choosing Enabled Button.”

Tab Groups generally appears by itself when a user uses the latest version of Chrome. So if you are unable to see any new change on your program, follow these instructions:

On your Chrome browser, click on the three vertical dots on your top-right corner.
Now click on Help.
Then select the About Google Chrome option.
Now, if you are not running the newest version, you will be asked to update to the latest update.
So follow the on-screen prompts to update your browser.
Once everything is updated, launch the new browser and then open a new tab.
After that, right-click on a tab header, and you should see a new option saying “Add to New Group.”
If there is no option like that, then it means your browser still doesn’t have the new feature enabled.
To enable this, copy “chrome://flags/#tab-groups” and then open a new tab.
Then choose the URL bar located on the upper and then press Ctrl + V to paste it.
Press Enter on your keyboard.
Now click on the Default button located next to Tab Groups.
Choose Enabled.
Now, relaunch the browser.

Now the new feature is enabled.

How to Use Tab Groups on Chrome

Once your browser is updated, open a new tab and right-click on its header.
Now you will see a new option named “Add to New Group.”
Press that.
This will make the tab header outlined with color as well as a color dot will appear next to it.
Now click the dot to give your new tab group a name because this name will display on the header of your tab.
You can also change the color in case you don’t like it.
Also, there is an option for you to close the tabs on that particular tab group.
You can also ungroup the tabs linked to it that will delete the group as well.
There is an option to add a new tab to the group as well.

This feature makes it very easy to organize your browsing experience. You can create a dedicated tabs group for your business-related research and another one for entertainment purposes. This will help you easily recognize the tabs and quickly access them.
