by Sara Roberts Online Marketing

If you’re a fan of pearl jewelry and you have a huge collection of pearl set, then you must not be unaware of Keshi pearls. It is found to be irregularly shaped, small sized pearl, which comes with no nucleus influencing its profile. Keshi, this word is derived from the Japanese word ‘Poppy Seed’. Considering its small size, Keshi is also known as the seed pearl. Most of the times, these pearls are little bigger than the grain of sand. Origin of Keshi pearls can be seen from saltwater or freshwater shells.

Keshi Pearls

You would be amazed to see its unique shape and size. In a very strange way, Keshi pearls are formed inside the shell. This kind of pearl is stimulated to grow by planting a bead nucleus into the oyster. The bead nucleus is grown usually from the outer shell of clams, which can form a regular round shape of these beads. This kind of bead will then be implanted into the soft tissue of the mollusk. When this kind of irritant is placed inside the mollusk, the production of the nacre takes place. You can see the defense mechanism of the shell in the Nacre production, which can protect itself from any kind of foreign matter. Nacre is produced to wrap the foreign bodies that got inside the shell. As per the instance, the shell throws out the bead nucleus, even before it becomes a good pearl. With no foreign object, the shell comes up with the nacre production because it starts getting irritated. In the method, the nacre comes together without any nucleus and the result becomes the distinct pearl. This kind of rejection process produces a secondary product called the Keshi Pearl.

Due to the accidental growth inside the mother oyster, keshi pearls are produced. The main product is actually planned for its proportionately shaped pearl, symmetrical or the cultured round pearl. These kind of rounded or regular pearls are sold at higher price, because you might not see any other category of pearl as symmetrical as it is. Due to its irregular shape, this kind of pearl gives a distinct appeal.
