Cerebral Palsy Introduction - Causes, Types, Treatment

"Cerebral" is a medical term use for brain. "Palsy" refers to the body posture movement disorder. Due to this way, cerebral palsy group of disorder where body movement affected after some damages in the area of brain. Cerebral palsy is one of the most common type of childhood physical disability condition. It caused by some damages in brain after or before the birth of infant. This condition mostly occur during brain development of infant.  The major causes of cerebral palsy condition is define by the specialist but there are many factors like  including infection, meningitis, lack of oxygen and bleeding into the brain, point out the cerebral palsy problem in children.  It is condition where human loss the ability to control the motor function, muscles control and better coordination between muscles and brain. 

Depending upon the damage area of brain cerebral palsy affect person in different ways:

Cerebral palsy classified into three different kinds: 

Those children affected with spastic cerebral palsy problem their muscles become stiff, rigid and  movement of joints and muscles become jerky and stiff, limbs are under development. It is most common form of CP where 70 to 80% CP children affected with Spastic cerebral palsy problem. It also classified into different types according to the affected limb. Monoplegia, Diplegia, Hemiplegia and quadriplegia spastic cerebral palsy. In monoplegia spastic cp only one part of body is affected by cerebral palsy problem and mostly seen in arms. In diplegia, either lower part of body or upper upper part of body affect with cerebral palsy problem includes both legs or both hands.  In Spastic hemiplegia one side of body is affected with cerebral palsy disorder. and last one is quadriplegia, here four limb of body including upper as well lower part of body affected with  quadriplegia spastic cerebral palsy.

Athetoid cerebral palsy caused after some damages in  cerebellum and the basal ganglia. These two brain areas work in contrast to smooth, to create co-ordinates movement, as well as the maintenance of posture. Damage to one or both of these areas creates an imbalance, a child, involuntary movements, uncoordinated, to develop mostly on face, arms, and torso can cause. Secondary problems with food, get talking, objects can also result from imbalance. Approximately 10% of people with cerebral palsy are Athetoid.

 

In Ataxic Cerebral Palsy, medically observed 5 to 10 % cerebral palsy children affected with Ataxic cerebral palsy problem.  It is mostly caused when hole occurs in brain. This different type of cerebral palsy problem from above two CP.

Due to this way cerebral palsy is not progressive and no proper cure is available for cerebral palsy children. But there are many treatments and advancement in technologies which help to CP children to become like normal children. These cerebral palsy treatment help to manage cerebral palsy problem in Children. There are different surgeries and therapies are also available for cerebral palsy treatment. Firstly cerebral palsy therapy prefer for children to recover from such problem and provide better condition by cerebral palsy specialist. But in critical condition they suggest for cerebral palsy surgery treatment after CP surgery therapies are also suggest for patients. These therapies includes Physical therapy, to provide better strength and coordination between brain and muscles. Occupation cerebral palsy therapy, help to decrease the spasticity and rigidity in small muscles and help to understand daily work routine to do their work easily and third is speech language therapy for better pronunciation of word and help to make better communication among people.
