Car insurance add-ons that are worth the purchase
by Kanika Shelatkar Insurance ConsultantWe
all want value for our money when purchasing something. Similarly, car
insurance policy is no exception. For some, it might be higher IDV, and for
others, better protection. Now when it comes to the latter, including add-ons
in the policy is the first thing that needs to be considered.
This
is because add-ons can make car insurance very beneficial in terms of coverage.
While the cost for these add-ons gets added in the premium amount, it justifies
the extra amount when it comes to the protection it offers.
Add-ons
that are practical
It
is a known fact that every car-owner would have particular needs when it comes to
purchasing four-wheeler
insurance online, and that narrows down to the add-on covers as well.
However, there are certain issues which every car is susceptible to face. For
this very reason, there are specific add-on covers which become crucial to include
in your policy. These include:
Roadside
assistance
Breakdowns
are inevitable in a car. The reasons for having a breakdown on the roadside can
range from mechanical trouble which require the vehicle to be towed to the
nearest garage or service centre for repair to punctures which may require assistance
if you are not sure with the procedure to running out of fuel which may need
emergency fuel to get to the next fuel station and many more things. These reinforce
the necessity of having a roadside assistance cover. If you travel long
distances using your vehicle, then this add-on cover is an unquestionably a
must.
Depreciation
waiver cover
If
your car meets with an accident, then a depreciation waiver cover guarantees
you are re compensated of the full cost of the parts replaced with no
depreciation. It is a cover that is helpful and should be chosen by every car
owner.
Loss
of personal stuff
It
is another such cover that you should check while buying a car insurance policy.
There is definitely a component of extra premium included while purchasing this
add-on feature but, in case of a theft of an expensive item like a laptop, one
can benefit from the cover, up to a limit of almost INR 50,000. During such
situations like these, this add-on proves to be worth it.
No
Claims Bonus
No
Claims Bonus or NCB is probably one of the most pragmatic ways of getting a
lower insurance premium in the next year. If you make zero claims on your car
insurance policy during a policy term, you are rewarded No Claims Bonus which
is adjusted in the insurance premium. However, if you were to file a claim, you
will not get any No Claim Bonus. But, with this add-on, you can protect that as
well.
