Cancer: Uncontrolled Proliferation of Cells

by Sanjeev Yadav SEO Consultant
Cancer is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. As compared to the normal cells, malignant cells show metabolic changes. This is basically due to both genetic as well as epigenetic alterations. However, drugs that are being used for treating cancer follow several mechanisms of action. While treating cancer, the strategy includes targeting drugs at particular genes, proteins or enzymes that are found in cancer cells. The internal tissue environment is responsible for the growth and survival of these cells. Though, chemotherapy is the treatment used to inhibit the cancerous cell growth. Apart from that, the anticancer drugs that are used for treatment are DNA synthesis inhibitors, DNA intercalators, enzyme inhibitors, transcription regulators, etc.

Anticancer Drugs and Their Usage

Anticancer drugs also known as antineoplastic drugs are agents that determine the activity against malignant disease. They include antimetabolites, alkylating agents, hormones, and natural products. These drugs work by inhibiting the proliferation of cancerous cells.
The usage of anti-cancer medicines depends upon several factors like severity of cancer, type and location of cancer, whether surgery or radiation therapy needs to be used and the side effects of the drug. Most of the anticancer medicines can be taken intravenously, some can be taken orally, other intramuscularly or intrathecally. Some of the common anticancer drugs are-
·    Mitomycin: Used to treat malignant melanoma of breast, bladder, lung, colon, rectum, pancreas, head and neck cancer
·    Mitotane: To treat cancer of adrenal cortex
·    Altretamine: Treatment of advanced ovarian cancer
·    Bleomycin: For lymphomas, Hodgkin's disease and testicular cancer.
·    Teniposide: To treat acute lymphocytic leukemia in children.
·    Pipobroman: To treat chronic granulocytic leukemia
·    Plicamycin: For testicular tumors.
·    Vincristine: For acute leukemia, Hodgkin's disease and lymphomas.

With the pharmaceutical companies successfully growing in the country, India has become the leading exporter of anti-cancer drugs offering a wide range of comprehensive and highly effective drugs. The anti-cancer medicines exporters should keep in the mind the following points:
·    Medicines should be sourced from reliable vendors according to industry norms.
·    The drug should be processed using high-grade medical substances.
·    Processing should be done keeping in mind the medical standards and utilizing premium quality ingredients.
·    Medicines should be available in customized packing as per the client's requirements.
·    Should maintain high purity, reliability, and safe usage.

To conclude, anti-cancer medicines have been proven to be effective against treating cancer. However, it is crucial that the diagnosis of cancer need to be done in the early stages.
