Can radio remote controls change the future of machines?

by Mary Lyon BASE Engineering INC

Given the huge advancements in technology, it has been possible to make products that make so much of our work easier than before. One of the biggest achievements in the work stations has been the invention of industrial remote controls. These wireless controls are responsible for handling majority of the work with ease, needing us only to click a button in order to get our work done. But despite the massive benefits offered, not many people are aware of the various products that use such industrial remote controls.

These days, wireless remote controls are being used with numerous variations. The products are being used in Aircraft Auto Refueling System, Transport Leak Detection System, Proportional Hydraulic Controls and Bulk Transport Driver Authorization System. Since a majority of such industrial remote controls are certified to used in explosive environments, they are increasingly used in the petroleum sector, Proportional Hydraulic Control Systems, LPG and Anhydrous Ammonia Bulk Transports.

In order to grasp the idea of such remote controls better, it is important that we understand how such devices work. A wireless remote control has two main parts that we need to be aware of. They are the transmitter and the receiver. While the transmitter is usually used as a part of the circuit, the receiver is is the other half of the radio remote control. Given the use of such controls in workstations amidst rough outer conditions, both the transmitter and the receiver are made in such a way that they are water resistant and have a rugged weatherproof enclosure to ensure that the internal device isn’t damaged during use.

One important industrial remote control that is extremely useful in our daily life is the Driver Authorization System. Mainly used in commercial vehicles, it makes sure that no unauthorized move of their vehicle can be performed. It is basically a ignition lock out system controlled with the help of a micro computer. With the help of the device, one prevents his vehicle from being used without his authority.

Another popular device is the emergency shutdown system, which is mainly designed for industrial plants. Often, the hard wiring system and the manual emergency shut-down switches can be costly to maintain. This is where the emergency shutdown system comes in and reduces costs by a large amount. Any number of transmitter units can be installed within an area of 1000ft of the receiver, with the transmitters being controlled by radio signals. What is unique about this system is that it can work perfectly in sync with the older safety system in place as well as the new equipments.

Given the rate at which the technological field is upgrading itself, with the latest innovations, industrial remote controls have found a valuable place for itself. Modern manufacturers are producing unique remote controls that are sure to change how we look at technology in the work stations. The remote controls of the future might just be able to complete a large amount of work at the least possible time as well as ensure safety in the work place.
