BML Munjal University Launched a Series of Virtual Masterclasses to Gear up for the Future

BML Munjal University (BMU), a Hero Group initiative, has recently launched a series of virtual masterclasses, titled 'When Tomorrow Comes'. Many accomplished leaders coming from various industries and walks of life come together to share inspiring stories, real-life experiences, and their learnings on how one could brace themselves for a change, embrace it when it happens, and thrive in it.

This masterclass series reiterates BMU's focus on creating transformative learning for its students. The series intends to motivate the students while facilitating them to have the right mindset to gear up and display resilience for whatever revolutionary or evolutionary changes the future might bring their way.

This series includes 60-minute live sessions held every week. The first masterclass was addressed by Sunil Kant Munjal, the Chancellor of BML Munjal University, and hosted by Prof Nigam Nuggehalli, the Dean of the School of Law. Mr Munjal spoke about the significance of adapting to change, quoting various examples of the Hero Group's journey. He also said that it is imperative to be humble and appreciate other people's work, the significance of leading by example, and taking criticism in one's stride so that one can always learn and improve further. The following masterclass featured Sonam Kalra, who is an accomplished Sufi Singer and Composer, along with Soumik Sen, a celebrated Screenwriter and Film Director. The host for this session was Dr Vishal Talwar, the Dean of the School of Management, BML Munjal University. He discussed a variety of topics and also highlighted the impact that Covid-19 would have on the entertainment industry, and what are the possible changes expected because of this. A nostalgic moment came by when he shared his memories of the university and then advised the audience on how to be future-ready.

The most recent masterclass featured accomplished people like Dr Narinder Batra, who is the President Of the Indian Olympic Association and Dr Deepa Malik, Padma Shri, Arjuna Awardee, Khel Ratna, and President of the Paralympic Committee Of India. This session was moderated by Mr Gurbir Singh Sandhu, an Olympian, Arjuna Awardee, and Director of the Department of Sports, BML Munjal University. The discussion revolved around how the athletes are adapting to new technologies to stay relevant, more unique changes in the anvil for the upcoming events, which keeps them upbeat during the lockdown. It also includes the moments in their life where they had to take the leap of faith and transform things in their favour. They also advised the budding athletes and students on how they should accept the change and keep walking on their chosen path.

Both Narinder and Deepa emphasised that staying positive and working with available resources to the best of one's advantage while utilising the power of staying digitally connected. Deepa motivated the students by asking them to pursue some hobby and transform it into a passion for succeeding. She also gave a great mantra – if it's not working out, then you must try to reboot and restart. Whereas, Narinder inspired the students by giving examples of how being grounded, disciplined, humble, and honest is a way to achieve success.

Mr Gurbir Singh stated, "The importance of learning and adapting to new situations and technologies to be able to ride change and thrive were important learnings from these masters. In adversity or crisis lies opportunity, was another hopeful message as they shared how collaboration between athletes and associations world over, use of technology, newer ways to connect would be opportunities that the sports industry may not have considered otherwise."

The upcoming masterclass will have stalwarts like Akhil Bansal, the Deputy CEO KPMG, Kailash Satyarthi, a Social Activist and Nobel Peace Prize winner, Rajiv Luthra from L&L, Deepak Vohra, the Indian Ambassador to Poland, Gerard George, who is the Dean of Singapore Management University, to name a few.
