BIZARRE BEAUTY TRENDS

by Victoria Howell The barbershops and hair salons

Some of the emerging trends can be bizarre and even dangerous. Check out some of the most ridiculous trends in 2015-2016!

1. Strobing

Forget contouring – strobing is the new “it” in makeup. Essentially, strobing is advanced highlighting. It requires the use of several different highlighting creams and powders to achieve the desired glowy, dewy look. Strobing is believed to give you a more youthful and fresh look. In reality, it might leave you looking like a hot sweaty mess. We would not recommend this trend to people, who have less than perfectly textured smooth skin. Light colors and shimmer will accentuate all of the imperfections and will make them stand out even more.

2. Highlight Makeup

Several days ago several popular YouTubers and Instagram users took the strobing technique one step further and made a face full of makeup using only highlighting products. It’s a bit too much if you ask us.

3. Ear Candling

This particular trend requires just a candle in your ear. It is rumored to have an overall beneficial effect on your health as well as clean your ears from the buildup of earwax. Yet, medical research proved this treatment to be not only ineffective but also outright dangerous. It does not clean your ears and can be damaging to your health. 10/10 would not recommend it.

4. Candle Hair Burning

This trend is even more ridiculous and dangerous than shoving a candle in your ear. It basically requires setting your hair on fire. The proper technique would be to twist small strands of your hair and use fire to quickly burn the sticking out ends off. The simple notion that this procedure is better than cutting the split ends off is ridiculous. Don’t risk turning your hair in a bonfire – go to a NYC Hair Salon and get a normal haircut!

We suggest you don’t follow these trends to avoid causing damage to your health and appearance!
