Big Impact: Small Changes to Conveyor Chain Specification

by Rob Davis Content writer

Chain conveyors are rarely the same, and the sizes and types of products shipped vary greatly. This imposes various requirements on the choice of Conveyor Chain. In other words, the selection process should be carefully considered. Minor changes to the series specifications can improve performance.

By using a chain with welded pins and bushings, you can reduce the specific size of the chain. Example: FV250A160 can be replaced with FV180A160. This circuit is 40% lighter, so it occupies much less space. Or, in case of problems, use weld pins and bushing Conveyor Chain to extend the life of the chain. How is this possible?

It is necessary to select a specially selected circuit based on weldability. By choosing the right type of material and using an automatic welder, you can achieve high quality, reliable and consistent results. Automatic welders give you tight control over the welding process, welding temperature and energy consumption. Each circuit size and type has its own welding parameters and is preloaded on the machine, reducing the chance of human error. Thanks to advanced welding technology, the area affected by heat can be reduced as much as possible, so that the finished circuit can withstand the challenges of time.

In addition to the welding method used, careful protection of the bolt and bushing ends from hardening improves the weldability of chains, bolts and bushings.

Not only are the weld pins and bushing chains extremely resistant to impact loads, but their tensile strength is 30% higher than the transmission chains commonly available on the market.

Example: FB M315 breaking load, conveyor chain

ISO standard 315kN welding pin only 380-410kN pin and bushing welding 440-450kN

Another small change in the series specs that can have a big impact is the swivel side panel. What is surface deposition? Turning is a simple process in which the finished conveyor chain plate is placed in a container, placed in a special grinding medium and constantly rubbed with a polishing stone. After a while, the board will be polished and all sharp edges will be removed. This will extend the life of the wear tape.

FB Conveyor Chains and Pressure Forged Chains work in some of the world's toughest chain conveyor applications. Our conveyor chains and forged chains are designed to provide the perfect combination of strength, wear resistance and fatigue resistance. Chain conveyors are rarely the same because the sizes and types of products shipped are very different. This imposes various requirements on the choice of transmission chain and requires careful consideration of the selection process.
