Benefits Of Taking Pitching Lessons From Fastpitch Softball Pitching Coaches
by John yang Maxun groupTo ensure success in sporting career, it is
imperative to develop the pitching skill. That is why everyone needs
experienced and exposed fastpitch
softball pitching coaches to guide towards achieving the goals.
These coaches ensure that you pass through series
of fastpitch
softball hitting drills in-order to keep you in top shape and ensure
that you perform optimally in your sporting career. They also watch and study
the tapes of established Olympians. These video analyses are used to describe
and show the mechanics of these sportswomen to their students. The form of
their students are also analyzed and compared to those of the established Olympians.
They ensure efficient mechanics by adjusting and correcting the mechanics
in-line with those of established sportswomen, and this helps to optimally
improve performance.
At the end
of each session fastpitch softball pitching coaches
re-video the performance of their students so that the students can see
their areas of improvement and aim to hit correct positions. While some
students can easily feel everything their bodies are doing, others tend to
learn and appreciate better when they see it.
Another area
where pitching coaches help their students is in the case of body awareness.
This ensures the consistency in performance of pitchers and they do this by
offering prescription to be used for private practice. These lessons are taken
as homework and each pitcher is expected to gain mastery of these skills before
coming for the next lessons. Appointments are placed for students and their
lessons are fully documented, and this ensures the elimination of slight
weaknesses that these students are likely to possess. Private practice ensures
perfection. That is why it is imperative for students to practice at home. When
these private lessons are strictly adhered to, students become more familiar
with terms like reverse position, hips stay open, resistance, figure 4 and
attack position.
Coaches also
try to improve the speed and accuracy of their students by correcting their
mechanics. It is said that, “practice makes perfect” and students are expected
to correct their mechanics at 100% effort. Constant repetition of exercises
helps to strengthen speed and accuracy. The concept of “strike first” ignoring
speed and mechanics is designed to ensure failure of athletes. That is why it
is important not to select coaches that teach accuracy first. It is speed
first!
To improve
your speed, the coach uses equipments like JUGS radar gun to ensure that 7th
grade students reach at least 55mph and 9th grade students reach
60mph. This requires series of hard work, dedication and perseverance and
students without prior knowledge of aggressive mechanics may find it difficult
from the start. Coaches also measure spin speed of pitches using RevFire ball.
They instruct students to aim for speeds in the region of 20+ rps meaning
“revolution per second”. They ensure that you work hard on your spins because
the ball moves because of two important things: speed of spin and direction of
spin. They focus on snaps, arm whip, spins and finger friction because kids are
guilty of having poor movements and poor spin.
