Benefits of Olive Oil - Are They For You?

by Hakim Ajmal Ap k dukh dard ka sathi

Many people from the Middle East, where olive oil originates and is regularly consumed, have the highest mortality rates from cardiovascular disease in the world. Wait, there's more. The health benefits of olive oil really are many. There is weight loss, lower cholesterol, lower blood pressure, cholesterol levels, lower blood glucose, lower blood sugar, even cancer and arthritis, just to name a few.

The most obvious benefit of olive oil is its cholesterol-lowering effect. There is some evidence that the consumption of olive oil lowers cholesterol as well. It also appears to aid in treating atherosclerosis, the hardening of the arteries.

Olive oil can help to prevent clogged arteries in other ways. It can assist in controlling the accumulation of fat, which may eventually lead to coronary artery disease, by strengthening the walls of the arteries. This in turn lowers their plaque content, which is the buildup of cholesterol particles on the arteries. If the plaque remains on the arterial wall, it may block the arteries from opening fully again, and this may cause heart attacks or strokes.

Olive oil also appears to inhibit the formation of plaque in the arteries as it passes through the arteries, by preventing the formation of a substance called lipoprotein plaque, which is like a sponge, forming on the walls of the arteries and collecting cholesterol. The presence of lipoprotein plaque blocks the flow of blood. This then causes atherosclerosis to occur in the arteries.

Because the health benefits of olive oils go far beyond cardiovascular disease prevention, they do not mean that they are not beneficial in treating the disease. They do. Some of these benefits include:

* Olive oil helps to control blood glucose. When the body's blood glucose level is in check, it can efficiently use available nutrients from food sources and use them to help repair cells and produce energy. It can help control your appetite and burn the fat stored in your body. As you can imagine, having less fat in your body can be quite a benefit!
* Olive oil may help with the treatment of diabetes.

* Olive oil helps you lose weight. Even if you are not interested in losing weight, regular consumption of olive oil helps you feel fuller for longer. and can help you reduce your stress levels.

* Olive oil helps in digestion, by making your stomach and digestive system work better.

In conclusion, the benefits of olive oil go far beyond just heart problems. In many ways, they are life-saving. They may not be the main reason that you want to start a new diet and lose a lot of weight, but they are certainly worth considering.

Heart problems are preventable, so the benefits of olive oil may not be the only reason you are considering this type of cooking oil. However, this is definitely a good place to start.

Benefits that relate to diabetes, cholesterol, and blood pressure include:
* Reduces the symptoms of heart failure and high blood pressure.
* Is an antioxidant that may help reduce the risk of many types of cancer.
* Has been shown to help lower LDL cholesterol (bad) cholesterol, and       increase HDL cholesterol (good) cholesterol.
* Has a great taste and makes a great addition to a salad dressing, or marinade. * Has a pleasant aroma and taste.

So if you have questions about whether or not you should be using olive oil in your kitchen, do some more research and see what others think. Do not think Zaitoon Ka Tail is only for those with heart problems. Research it and see what people say!
