Beautiful Bungalow Design - Inspiration to Future Architects & Designers

by Dtours India Dtours India
There are homes and then there are dream homes. While the former category comprises of comfortable living spaces, the latter category includes residential spaces that are designed so exclusively that they seem like a dream come true. In keeping with its commitment towards spreading awareness about architecture, design and art, dtours india is proud to present one such beautiful house, owned by filmmaker Guddu Dhanoa and his wife Santosh. Located near the exquisite locality of Madh Island in Mumbai, the bungalow is nestled within a lush green acreage covering over 20,000 square feet. What makes the bungalow stand apart is its mesmerizing architecture combined with an exclusive decor.

A Unique Name for a Unique Home

It’s surprising to know that the bungalow got an unique name. It is called Villa 9 to 9, which refers to the fact that the number 9 holds great significance in life of the owners. Not only does their marriage anniversary fall on 9th January but their son was also born on the same date which is why the couple considers number 9 to be extremely lucky for them.

A Great Mix of Architectural Influences

The architecture of the bungalow is completely unlike anything found in Mumbai. While the structure is designed predominantly in contemporary architectural style, it features a distinct influence of Moroccan and Balinese architecture styles. Rather than being a simple composite unit, the different areas of the house, such as the living room, the dining rooms and the bedrooms etc are all separate spaces.  These are interconnected with the help of a combination of well laid out concrete pathways and green patches. The landscaping of the sprawling exteriors has been with attention to detail on both functionality and appeal.

Ample Green Coverage for a Comfy Feel

In a time when the most properties have limited green cover, Villa 9 to 9 is bordered by numerous trees that help in keeping the surrounding relatively cooler. In addition, the trees help in giving a naturally secluded and private look to the property besides making the overall ambience extremely refreshing and relaxing. Most importantly the Dhanoa couple feel that the trees provide a perfect setting for entertaining their guests, who visit them quite frequently.  The couple is even getting a gazebo constructed with the coconut trees providing the perfect backdrop for it when it is competed in the near future.

Artefacts to Enhance the Outdoor Décor

In addition to the beautiful landscaping and strategically placed furniture, the Dhanoa couple has invested in a number of artefacts purchased during their trips to various parts of the country and the globe. These artefacts have been carefully placed all across the property and add to the mesmerizing appeal of the exteriors. What is even more interesting is that many of these artefacts hold a special meaning for the couple as they have some unique and interesting tale associated with them. They create a sort of connectivity between the different areas of the property while also creating an overall soothing effect.

Exemplary Interior Decor

When it comes to the interiors of Villa 9 to 9, it is unique in its own way and reflects the love and passion that the owners have for their home. Each room is quite spacious and adorned with minimalistic furniture that perfectly matches the overall decor of the room enhancing the feeling of space in the rooms. Moreover each room features something exclusive that defines the character of the room. For the living room, it is the large bronze statue of a horse with a jockey seated on it. For the master bedroom it is the ornate window with colourful glass that the couple purchased from a collector in Bikaner.

Then there is the wall made from Malad stones which features several small sections designed to hold electric lanterns that twinkle. One can only imagine the mesmerizing effect they create when they are switched on during the evenings. Another interesting aspect about the master bedroom is that its flooring is made from Kadappa Stones, which have been placed upside down so that their naturally glossy look does not diminish the overall decor of the room. There are other rooms that are undergoing changes to ensure that they get an equally amazing and unique look.

A Perfect Fruit of Passion

When asked about what inspired the Dhanoa couple to come up with such a unique theme for their home, the couple explained that it was their extreme passion for their house. It was this single factor that guided them in every aspect of making the structure perfect in every respect. Quite surprisingly rather than investing in new and expensive things to decorate their space, the couple used their creativity to get the best out of what they already had and reusing old objects. In fact, they put in a lot of thought and consideration about visualizing how and where they would be using an item they might feel interested to buy.
