(i) web developer, (ii) graphics designer, (iii) digital media specialist, (iv)Digital &  video editor, (v) digital media photographer.

Various career options explained

(i) Web developer: 

A highly creative job profile, web developing encompasses using of graphic making skills to create and make websites. This also includes making web-based applications too. Knowledge of coding also helps. The aim is to make the website look good and functional on various digital devices.  The salary package can be Rs 308, 040 per annum. However,  keep in mind that the salary package is also determined by factors like experience, skill sets, company that is hiring and location of work.  A mass communication course will help you get the necessary skills.

(ii) Graphics designer: 

If you are an artist, this is the job for you. Combining your innate artistic talent with software, you can emerge a  winner as a graphics designer. Creating branding campaigns, logos, posters, images can be in your kitty among other creative options.  Financially, too the rewards are good. As experience is main requirement here, you can earn Rs 3.3 lakh and that can go up to Rs 6.5 lakh.  In fact, as a career tip,  you can have your own personal website  or make an electronic portfolio to impress prospective employers. To start  a career as a graphics designer, it is advisable that you do a mass communication course.

(iii) Digital media specialist including social media:

This is a fantastic and multifaceted job profile a digital media specialist can consider. Involving multiple tasks and merging many skills, the specialist can tap into his content writing skills, graphics skills, video and audio skills to fit this role. With the social media field now a flourishing field, there is just no dearth of job options  as a digital media specialist.  As you grow in experience, financially also you continue to consolidate yourself.  Starting anywhere around Rs 3 lakh, one can graduate to Rs 6 lakh and more. To finetune this career, a journalism and mass communication course will greatly help.   

(iv) Video & digital editor:

The job profile includes making raw video footage into an attractively presented video while capturing the spirit of the project in focus. The digital editor should aim for absolute creativity in his creation as he functions from a prescribed script and arranges that raw footage while adding music, dialogs, etc to the video. A video editor can work with a production house or can work independently too. Familiarity with video editing equipment is essential.  A video editor can earn anything between approx Rs 25, 653 to Rs 39, 085 as post production editor.

(v) Digital media photographer: 

Gone are the days of developing photographs. With digital technology now in extensive use, a digital photographer is much in demand. A career option in this field can also be considered. Familiarity with digital photography equipment, skill of editing images etc help in specializing in digital photography. Apart from personal assignments, a digital photographer can look at options in magazines, websites, ad campaigns and firms etc.  You can even get placement after doing a journalism and mass communication course. For starters you can earn around Rs 2 lakh to Rs 3 lakh pa. And as you grow in the profession, for earnings, sky is the limit.
