Basics of silicone oil

Small viscosity-temperature coefficient, good dielectric properties, has good electrical insulation properties. In addition, it also has a strong shear resistance and good light transmission, low surface tension, good increased water moisture resistance, low volatility and other characteristics. Widely used as insulation, lubrication, shock, dust oil, dielectric fluid and heat carrier, and as anti-foaming, stripping, paint additives and cosmetic raw materials. Used in industrial circulating cooling water system cleaning and pre-film process, clear the foam produced by add the drug which can produce a lot of foam.

Silicone oil are generally colorless (or pale yellow), odorless, non-toxic, non-volatile liquids. Silicone oil is insoluble in water, methanol, glycol, and ethoxyethanol, immiscible with benzene, dimethyl ether, methyl ethyl ketone, carbon tetrachloride or kerosene, slightly soluble in acetone, dioxane, ethanol and the like. It has a small vapor pressure, high flash point and ignition, lower freezing point. Silicone oil has excellent heat resistance, electrical insulation property, weather resistance, hydrophobicity, physiologically inert and smaller surface tension, in addition to having a low viscosity-temperature coefficient, high resistance to compression) and some species also have the radiation resistant performance.
