As Director of the Stanford Global Disease
Mapping initiative and the Center for Surgery and Public Health, he aims to

Rohit Varma, Ph.D., is a member of the
National Academy of Sciences' Institute of Medicine. He is a Professor and the
Mary Lou Fulton Chair in Ophthalmology at the University of Arizona College of
Medicine in Tucson, AZ. Dr.
Rohit Varma, M.D the renowned vision expert, has been helping people see
better for more than four decades—and his passion and dedication to his work
shows no signs of slowing. Dr. Varma is a founding partner of the Eye Institute
of New Jersey and has been practicing at dozens of locations across New York,
New Jersey and Connecticut since his residency training at Columbia
University—which also awarded him its Lifetime Achievement Award. Rohit Varma,
MD, PhD is an accomplished ophthalmologist and internationally recognized scientist.
He has over 30 years of teaching experience at the University of Rochester
Medical Center in New York and serves as professor of ophthalmology and
biomedical engineering at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Dr.
Varma is renowned for his research involving intraocular pressure, glaucoma,

Rohit Varma, M.D., has been named the
Samuel T. Orr, M.D. Professor of Ophthalmology and director of the Eye &
Ear Institute. He will oversee the seven-year project that, when completed,
will result in a 500,000-square-foot eye-care facility on USC's Health Sciences
Campus in southwest Los Angeles. The project represents a $400 million
investment by USC and its corporate partner, NovaMed Inc., an ophthalmic
products and systems company based in Torrance that is affiliated with USC's
Rosenthal Eye Institute.
Rohit Varma, M.D., Ph.D., is an
internationally recognized ophthalmologist and entrepreneur. After completing
his residency in ophthalmology at the internationally renowned Wilmer Eye
Institute at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and a master's degree from Johns
Hopkins School of Public Health, both located in Baltimore, he joined the
faculty at Harvard Medical School.
Rohit Varma, MD, MPH, an assistant
professor of clinical ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute, is a retinal
surgeon who specializes in glaucoma. During his fellowship at Wills Eye
Hospital in Philadelphia and USC Keck School of Medicine in Los Angeles, Dr. Rohit Varma developed a unique approach to glaucoma surgery known as
"single-site" trabeculectomy. This innovative technique involves
creating a single-entry point for both the internal drainage tubes and external
shunt devices.
