Amazon Affiliate Tips
by Ann W. MarketerAMAZON AFFILIATE TIP: USING PROFESSIONAL SOFTWARE
If you are an amazon affiliate you will need to ask yourself
some very basic questions such as which items shall I sell. You might decide
the answer to this very quickly if you opt for a product that reflects your
passion. But I want to delve deeper than
that and assume you have no idea what you would like to sell so that I can show
you a logical way of coming to the most profitable answer for yourself! Amazon
does provide an array of tools for its affiliates but unfortunately they do not
go far enough to give you that professional edge that you need.
COMMISSION MIGHT DETERMINE WHAT YOU DECIDE TO SELL
Bare in mind that the average commission that Amazon pays is
only 5% which does rise the more you sell to about 8% depending upon the
category that you choose to sell. So for example if you were to decide to sell
weight loss supplements at $5 per bottle this would net you a grand total of
0.25c. Assuming for one moment you are driving a fair amount of traffic to your
site, is this level of commission sufficient to cover your hosting costs and
any publicity that you decide to do? I would argue that with the same amount of
traffic you might be better off choosing a best seller with a higher level of
commission. This is obvious right? So how does one go about finding best
sellers with a high level of commission?
BEST SELLERS AT AMAZON WITH HIGH LEVEL OF COMMISION
You need to look at a combination of factors such as user
rating, number of reviews, product price, and a good idea how much of the
product is being sold. These are products that are ranked well on Amazon (For
example if you go to the site and pick any product, after the product
description, in the product detail it will normally say something like “Amazon
Best seller rank 400” for example. The lower the number the more of a best
seller the product is! In other words you are looking for a product with a
great number of 4* rating, at the barest minimum of 50 that has a good ranking.
Why? These are products that offer the less likelihood of buyers returning the
product which would affect your commission pay-out and if it is a ranked best
seller this proves the product is in high demand.
There is software that automatically allows you to filter for high commission products with high rating and high number of reviews in any category. I would suggest that this type of information is very useful for those wishing to become an amazon affiliate and provide the competitive edge that is needed in today’s market.
