Affiliate Marketing Tips - My Hot 12

I have 12 affiliate marketing tips that I wish to share with you, based on my roller coaster career in internet marketing. Affiliate marketing is another way of saying that you earn commissions selling products or services created by someone else.

This is what has worked for me and I hope they help you too …

1. Never sell anything that you have not bought and used yourself. If you don't have faith in the product why should anyone else have?
   
   

2. Only sell high quality products. Selling rubbish to earn a quick buck will only gain you a reputation for, guess what, selling rubbish.
   
   

3. Make sure that the product owner has a sales page that is dynamic without being tacky. It should contain testimonials, engaging graphics, pictures and a strong call to action.
   
   

4. You should have access to affiliate tools such as banners, videos, follow up emails and alternative sales pages.
   
   

5. A sales funnel should be easy to create. In other words the product owner should be able to supply at least one further, more expensive, product that you can offer to your customer later.
   
   

6. If 5. is not available then you should be able to source other products from elsewhere to promote to your list.
   
   

7. Always build your list. Adding people to your mailing by using an autoresponder service will help you to establish a long term business and not just a one hit wonder.
   
   

8. The commission you earn must be, at least, 50% and preferably considerably more.
   
   

9. Selling a low value item to begin with is a good idea but you must think in terms of selling high priced products to the same customers. Sticking with low value items will make creating a substantial income very difficult.
   
   

10. It is reasonable for customers to expect some sort of guarantee, however 60 days or more comes with a built in problem. Within 60 days it should be easily possible for anyone to record the contents of any product then return it for a full refund.
    
    

11. The product owner will be responsible for supplying the item and customer support so it is very important for you to communicate with your list regularly, I would suggest at least once a week.
    
    

12. Stick with a niche that interests you. You will find it very difficult to put in the work necessary should you choose to promote something that does not appeal to you.

These affiliate marketing tips are 'from the coal face'. I have probably made more mistakes than you and wasted more time and money. Can I guarantee that by following my advice that you will earn a good living online? No, I can only describe what I have found to work.

Affiliate marketing has a lot going for it, not least is the fact that the product is instantly available. You don't have to spend weeks, perhaps months creating something which, at the end of the day, the market might reject. One day you may have your very own product but, until then, I hope that my dozen affiliate marketing tips may be of some assistance.
