Adding an HP Network Printer to Windows

Setting up a wireless or wired network printer in windows without installation of additional drivers:

  1. Look for in the windows and open Change device installation settings. The user here needs to make sure that the checkbox that says YES (recommended) has been checked.
  2. Now, position the printer close to the network router.
  3. Switch on the printer and then connect the printer to the network.
  • For printers that come with a control panel menu: Open up the Wireless hp printer Setup Wizard from the menu of wireless, Settings, or Network Setup.

Here, the user can choose their Network name, and then type in the password for completion of the connection.

  • For printers without the control panel menu: Press and then keep holding the button of Wireless on the printer and wait until the light starts to blink. Then, within two minutes, go on to the press and then keep holding the button of WPS on the router. The light present on the printer will stop flashing the moment the connection gets completed.
  • For printers that are connected with an Ethernet cable: The user is required to connect the cable to the port that is located on the rear of the printer and the other end to an available port on the router.
  1. The user must make sure that their computer has been connected to the same network to which the printer has been connected.
  2. Now, look for and then open Add an HP printer setup on windows.
  3. Tap on ADD A PRINTER OR SCANNER. The user then needs to wait until windows locate the printer. When found, tap on the name of the printer, then click on ADD DEVICE for completing the Setup.

If the user’s printer is not found, click on THE PRINTER THAT I WANT ISN’T LISTED. In the windows of FIND A PRINTER BY OTHER OPTIONS, choose an option for locating and adding a printer.

ADDING A USB- CONNECTED PRINTER TO WINDOWS

  1. Find windows for and open Change Device Installation Settings. Ensure that YES is selected.
  2. Ensure an open USB PORT is available on the computer.
  3. Switch the printer on and connect the USB cable to the computer port and the printer.
  4. When a Found New Hardware message pops up, follow any prompts for installing the printer on the website of 123.hp.com/setup.
  • The driver was installed successfully if you can print.
  • If you can’t print, follow the further steps.
  1. Find in windows for and open ADD A PRINTER OR SCANNER.
  2. Choose to add a printer or scanner. Now, wait until windows locate the available printers.
  • Click on the printer, if it’s found, then select ADD DEVICE for completing the driver installation.
  • Continue with further steps if the printer isn’t found.
  1. Select THE PRINTER THAT I WANT IS NOT LISTED.
  2. In the windows of FIND A PRINTER BY OTHER OPTIONS, click ADD A LOCAL PRINTER WITH MANUAL SETTINGS > NEXT.
  3. In the windows CHOOSE A PRINTER PORT, choose USE AN EXISTING PORT > USB001: (virtual printer port for USB) from the drop-down menu > Next.
  4.  For installing your printer model’s driver, follow the instructions.
