Saturday October 5, Bloody Elbow presents live fight coverage of Wladimir Klitschko vs. Alexander Povetkin. HBO World Championship Boxing Klitschko vs. Povetkin airs live this Saturday, October 5 with a special afternoon fight time of 3:30 p.m. ET / PT. Bloody Elbow will have live fight coverage, including Results and discussion, right here...
For fans of boxing, this is a notable moment as it marks the return of the world's top Heavyweight to US stations. Recent fights from Klitschko (and his maybe retired brother Vitali) have been shuttled off to European airwaves and streams, with no mainstream coverage in the US. Now, HBO is back on the Klitschko train. And that's a good thing. Regardless of what you think of his fighting style, Wladimir is one of the sports's biggest international stars and one of the best fighters out there today. As fans, we should be able to watch him fight.
More Klitschko vs. Povetkin coverage:
While typically Klitschko fights are a rather foregone conclusion (after all, it's been 9 years since his last loss), this one offers a bit of suspense. The undefeated Povetkin is indeed a worthy challenger to the Klitschko crown. A decorated amateur and 2004 Olympic gold medalist, Povetkin has been rolling over opponents in impressive fashion on his way to this challenge. He hasn't faced anyone close to Klitschko's level, but then again, who in the Heavyweight ranks is even close to Klitschko's level? Maybe the answer to that question is Alexander Povetkin. We'll find out on Saturday.
Klitschko vs. Povetkin takes place in Moscow and airs live at 3:30 p.m. ET Saturday afternoon. HBO will re-air the fight later that day to open the HBO World Championship Boxing Cotto vs. Rodriguez broadcast beginning at 9:45 p.m. ET.

HBO BOXING KLITSCHKO VS. POVETKIN FIGHT
Wladimir Klitschko (60-3; 52 KOs) vs. Alexander Povetkin (26-0; 18 KOs) - Heavyweight
The Wladimir Klitschko (60-3, 51 KO’s) vs. Alexander Povetkin (26-0, 18 KO’s) fight on October 5th has been officially confirmed for Moscow’s Olympic Stadium in Russia, according to Sky Sports. Wladimir,37, will be defending his IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight titles against WBA World heavyweight champion Povetkin.

This fight will see both fighters getting career high paydays. Wladimir has been making good money for many years with his various heavyweight titles, but nothing like the money he’ll be getting this fight. Wladimir will be getting $17,499,997, while Povetkin will receive $5,833,333.
That’s good money for Povetkin, because he’s never really fought anyone that you could call a real quality heavyweight. Povetkin’s best wins of his career have come against Eddie Chambers, Ruslan Chagaev, Chris Byrd, and Marco Huck.
