A View From The Base Of The Ace

by Nischit Jain Analyst
A multinational electronics and hardware corporation that had its beginnings in Taiwan, Acer produces top-notch electronics equipment that include laptops, desktops, smartphones, tablet PCs, displays, servers, storage devices and peripherals. They also provide guidance with regard to e-business endeavours. Originally founded in 1976 as Multitech by Stan Shih, his wife Carolyn Yeh, and five other acquaintances who were willing to invest in this business venture, this firm would to go on to become a part of the IBM PC-compatible market which would pave-way for them to start producing PCs. The company was subsequently named Acer. Acer is infamous for producing high volumes of commodities that are sold at economically reasonable prices to the masses.

Despite its struggles during the 90s due to market complications, Acer slowly but surely led itself to build a growing momentum. With laptops becoming the contemporary obsession in the PC world, Acer decided to produce more of these by the late 90s. Acer bought Extensa and TravelMate from Texas Instruments in 1997. Notebook series’ like the Acer Extensa and Acer TravelMate were made with the modern businessman in mind, such that they would last through daily activities very resiliently.

During the early 2000s Acer implemented a spin-off strategy that segregated their corporate structure, they also strayed from manufacturing electronics and moved into designing, marketing and distributing products while the onus of production was given to contract manufacturers.

A sponsorship agreement was established between Acer and Scuderia Ferrari in 2003, by 2006 the relationship would see Acer changing its post from being an official supplier to an official sponsor of Ferrari. Many notebooks, netbooks, and also a smartphone, were released as a result of the relationship between the two companies, these products were Ferrari branded.

The mid-2000s would prove auspicious for Acer, more so in the UK, as their business targeting became more emphatic on consumer-centric service-orientation. Acer purchased Gateway from the US and Packard Bell from Europe in the year 2007, at the time Acer was the 3rd largest PC vendor and 2nd largest laptop vendor in the world.

By January, 2008, Acer started the production of the Aspire series of desktops and laptops. This line of PCs was aimed at the common man, or at people who ran small businesses. The two realms that this firm firmly wanted covered with this series were the essential features of the PC and a high-end performance of the same.
This brandline persists triumphantly to this very day, it has diversified and evolved into a brilliant species of computer technology.

Acer also came out with the Acer Aspire One line of netbooks in July, 2008. Netbooks were very popular less than a decade ago, they provided fairly minimal features but a durability and sleekness that was beyond compare.

As of 2012, Acer computers was the fourth largest vendor of PCs on the planet. The year also witnessed the birth of the Ultra-notebook family with the Aspire M3. Acer Laptops Brandlines like the Aspire R, Aspire V3 and Aspire E series’ that are highly technologically potent, extremely portative and durable are the prevalent variety of PCs that roam notorious.

This is how ideas persist, extend and break beyond the limits of conventional logic and possibility. This is how, from a shaky base, you give definite form to a universal ace.
