A Simple Guide to Eyebrow Tattoo Removal

by Marta Jordan Writer
Gone are the days where people spent tons of money on cosmetics. Why buy expensive makeup when there is an option of permanent makeup available? Although permanent makeup doesn’t stay throughout life and fades away after a few years, it is worth the effort since it lasts for quite some time and is gaining popularity in recent times.

Permanent coloration of eyebrows to achieve a perfect outline has been getting increasingly popular in recent years. But the risk in these procedures is that failure to attain the desired shape, colour, or size may lead to an unsightly appearance. However, people can always opt for eyebrow tattoo removal if they are not satisfied with the outcome.

Reasons for the Failure of Eyebrow Tattooing

● Change of colour
● Wrong placement
● Improper shape

What to do if you are not satisfied with the tattoo?
The tattoo might not look as expected immediately after the procedure due to the inflammation. It takes 4-5 days for the inflammation to subside. So, it is better to wait for a few days before considering removal.

When planning for an eyebrow tattoo removal, you should always visit their aesthetician to know about the type and properties of the ink used. Tattoo artists get their ink from various producers, a few of the ingredients are pure while a few are synthetic, and most of them contain heavy metals to impart the colours. So, this information is vital for the dermatologist while determining the treatment plan.

Laser removal
Dermatologists prefer lasers to remove intradermal pigment. The wavelength of the laser is chosen according to the dye used and is adjusted accordingly for every colour. The laser emits pulses of energy into the pigments of the tattoo.

The skin absorbs the energy from the wavelengths and breaks the pigments down into fragments. This treatment is carried out in separate sessions, and in each session, the pieces break down further until none of them are left. So, people need 5-10 sessions to altogether remove the tattoo depending on its size and pigment.

Fortunately, since most eyebrow tattoos are small, they only need a couple of minutes per session. Moreover, sometimes people don’t want to remove the entire tattoo. They need to remove the part that is out of shape. So, it can take even less than three sessions.

Camouflaging the tattoo
A few aestheticians may attempt to camouflage the tattoo by applying a skin-coloured pigmentation tattoo over the previous one. However, it does more harm than good by increasing the risk of infection. The newly applied tattoo does not tan, and ages like natural skin does and eventually appears different from the surrounding skin. So, this method is not recommended as a permanent eyebrow tattoo removal process.

Salabrasion
Salabrasion is a way of at-home tattoo removal. It involves exfoliating the upper layers of the skin using salt. It is a rather painful and ingenious method that is no longer followed due to the risk of scarring.

Tattoo removal creams
There are few tattoo removal creams available online. However, one should know that eyebrows and eyes are the most sensitive parts of the face and using any harsh chemicals without prior knowledge or training can cause serious problems.

Precautions to be taken before eyebrow tattoo removal
● Do not attempt any DIY methods to remove the tattoo by force. Always seek professional support.
● Remember that the tattoo will never look as you expected as soon as getting it done. It takes a few weeks for the inflammation to subside. Attempting any corrections before that may lead to permanent scarring.
● Do not cover the tattoo with makeup as makeup poses a risk for infection and may change the colour of the pigments in the tattoo.

Trends keep changing, so it is good to think twice before getting a permanent eyebrow tattoo. But, in case the tattoo you got was not satisfactory, there is always an eyebrow tattoo removal option available at your disposal.
