A Relaxing Bath

by Tyler P. A Passionate Blogger - Entertainment
Although the basic function of the bathroom is far from glamorous, the bathroom needs to be as functional as possible, but it should also be a space that is comfortable and attractive.

One of the most important rooms in the home is the bathroom. Strange as that may seem, it’s absolutely true. Think about it. It’s the room where most of us begin and end our days. The number of bathrooms can be a deciding factor in the purchase of a home. Of all the spaces in our home, it’s the one place where we are practically guaranteed to get a little bit of privacy, unless of course you have kids.

Although the basic function of the bathroom is far from glamorous, the bathroom needs to be as functional as possible, but it should also be a space that is comfortable and attractive. On average, every day we spend anywhere from thirty to sixty minutes in the bathroom which means about ninety-five days over the course of a lifetime. With as stressful as life can be, this little private space should feel like a mini retreat to help us begin and end our day on a good note.

If you are considering redecorating your bathroom or adding on a new one, some of the trends and features that can seriously improve the functionality of the room as well as adding some style have been available in Europe for many years but are new to the American market.  Incorporating some of these in any bathroom remodel will not only improve how the room functions, but will add value to your home if you ever decide to sell.

If you want to create a restful space, then you need to create an organized space. It’s difficult to find peace in a room that is cluttered and cramped. Conveniently enough, one of the best trends of this year is for smart storage in the bathroom. Whether you’re in New York City or Orange County, bathroom vanities can be customized to include pullouts for appliances, drawer dividers for makeup or toiletries, and built in electric and USB ports.  Your bathroom cabinetry can be built with just about any of your storage needs in mind to help keep your bath a crisp and clean space.

There are several new trends in bathroom tile that will lend some quiet sophistication and to your bath. Dimensional tile, which has been popular in Europe for several years now, is becoming increasingly popular here in the state. These can add texture and pattern to an accent wall or in your shower enclosure. You can even play with color, as brighter more playful colors are coming back into style. However, if you prefer a simpler look, retro black and white tile floors can be used a feature in your bath.

To give you bath an airy feel, you might consider freestanding tubs and floating vanities. These act more as a piece of furniture than a fixture in the room. Freestanding tubs are sculptural and can add style and a sense of space to your bathroom. Floating vanities also add that sense of space and are wonderful for smaller bathrooms where a traditional vanity might make the room feel cramped. Adding French doors rather than a curtain to your shower can also give a roomy, open feel.

A final trend that you might enjoy is adding natural woods to your bathroom. Including walnut bathroom vanities to your Orange County space or a gorgeous teak bench to your bath design add a warmth and organic quality to your space. You can even take the trend a step further and add some plants for color, to purify the air, and to help with relaxation.
