A plastic rib broke off in the drum of the washing machine.
by Chennai Service Center Washing Machine Repair and ServiceA modern washing machine is a high-tech device inside which
dozens of complex operations occur every second, small and large, fast and
long. Every part must be in good working order for the device to function
normally. Therefore, the ribs of the washing drum, which are also chippers, may
not be the most important elements in the apparatus, but they are necessary for
high-quality washing.
The chipper turns the clothes over during the working cycle,
so the home assistant can more effectively remove dirt from the laundry.
Therefore, if you notice that a plastic rib has come off in the drum, you need
to immediately repair it so that the quality of the wash does not fall.
Putting the rib in place
What to do if, after the next wash, you suddenly notice that
the rib in the machine either broke or came off, or it is unstable and is about
to come off? First, you must discard the panic because this breakdown is not
serious, so you do not need to call a service center specialist. You can fix
this malfunction with your hands, requiring a small list of tools usually
stored at every home, just in case. In total, we need the following:
- 1. Building hair dryer,
- 2. A small bur machine, it is also an engraver,
- 3. Marker,
- 4. Plastic clamps,
- 5. Wire cutters.
After preparing or acquiring all the necessary tools, you
can start repairing. Freeing up space at home is optional since all actions can
be performed right where the washing machine is at normal times. It is only
important to follow our instructions to avoid damaging the part more strictly.
Let's describe the procedure.
If the rib did not break or come off but became unstable, we
first heat the back wall of the part with a hair dryer. This is necessary so
that she succumbs, and it turns out to be removed without much effort.
- 1. We pull the part towards ourselves and remove it.
- 2. Now on the very edge with a marker, we put marks 5-6 millimetres below the latches.
- 3. Next, using an engraver, we cut out four holes on the chipper, guided by the marker marks.
- 4. With the teeth up, we thread two strong plastic clamps into the resulting holes.
- 5. We fix the latches in the washing machine at the place where we will install the rib. Latches should be at 45 degrees.
- 6. We put the rib in its place and filled the clamps into the holes in the drum.
- 7. Once again, we warm up the back wall of the part.
- 8. We insert the element into the grooves.
- 9. We fix the clamps, lower them, tighten them and cut them with wire cutters.
- 10. Finally, you can grind the sharp edges of the collars with a drill.
After such manipulations, it will securely fix the laundry lifter, and you can forever forget about torn ribs in the washing machine.
What happens if you wash without a rib?
Unfortunately, the owners of washing machines are very often
sure that if one rib comes off, there is nothing to worry about, and you can
continue to wash clothes further as if nothing had happened. Allegedly, the
machine has two more bumpers, which are enough to turn the laundry in the drum.
However, such washing can harm not only clothes but also household appliances
themselves.
Designers use more than just three ribs in the device of the
washing machine. Three parts allow you to distribute clothes inside the device
optimally. However, if there are two or even more than one chipper, this will
cause an imbalance in the drum. Suppose we add worn-out shock absorbers to this
situation, because of which the equipment dangles during operation, then
without a bump stop. In that case, the machine will start jumping all over the
apartment during washing, risking damaging internal elements or breaking
something in the apartment.
Nothing good will happen to the clothes inside. Under the
ribs, the drum has metal eyes that can make hooks and even holes in things. The
situation can be aggravated by the fact that over time, the eyes acquire burrs
that will destroy anything, even the strongest.
Thus, if your washing machine has lost one or more ribs,
then it is better to remember about washing once the parts are installed in their
place. You can still be lucky once and avoid severe damage to clothes during
rinsing and spinning, but not a single thing will survive two items of washing
without a plastic rib.
